Jeff is a highly qualified Education and Performance Development executive with 30+ years of progressive experience in program design and delivery, and 35+ years of engagement and project management experience. His expertise lies in his ability to identify organizational needs and develop training programs suited to all levels of personnel. Just as significant are his contributions to improved business performance, productivity, quality and profitability.

Jeff is a former Director and Account Manager with Intellinex, an eLearning venture of Ernst & Young, LLP and has helped manage and mentor thousands of people in many different organizations. Since his retirement from OCLC, where he worked as an Enterprise Project Manager, Jeff has been deeply involved in community service by volunteering for and helping manage several local non-profit organizations.

Moving to Nova Scotia four years ago proved to be tougher than expected. In Montreal and Toronto, I had strong professional and personal communities. 

People knew me, and there were familiar rooms, familiar conversations, and a sense of belonging that I didn’t have to think twice about. I never had to market Linked-Express—not once. Word of mouth was powerful.

Starting over in a new place sounds exciting, but the reality is quieter, slower, and sometimes lonely. You show up to spaces where no one knows your story yet. Rebuilding trust, relationships, and routines happens one conversation at a time. Even four years later, it doesn’t feel the same.

For a while, I wondered if something had shifted in me. Had I lost my ability to connect? Was I not trying hard enough? Was everyone else building community more easily than I was?

Here’s what I’ve come to realize: Sometimes it’s not that we’ve lost connection; it’s that life changes the way connection happens. New cities, new roles, and different seasons of life don’t always lend themselves to the easy, organic communities we once had.

Adapting to that can feel uncomfortable, even when we’re doing everything “right.”

Community today might look different from how it did before: a smaller circle, a slower pace (not really-just different), and more intentional conversations rather than constant proximity. And maybe that’s not a loss; maybe it’s evolution.

If you’ve ever felt like you were starting over—professionally or personally—know this: it’s not a reflection of your worth or ability to build relationships. Sometimes it just takes time to grow roots in new soil.

I’m still learning what connection looks like here. Maybe the real work is not recreating what we had but allowing something new to take shape.

One of the highlights of training at WCB Nova Scotia is witnessing caseworkers take the floor. It’s inspiring to see them build their confidence and prepare to help injured Nova Scotians return to work.

I’m excited to be joining Halifax Networking Nights with Dalene Courneya Allen as the guest speaker on March 11 at the Halifax Central Library.

Networking has changed, but not in terms of importance! Dalene Courneya Allen says it well, "Your net worth is your network!"

It’s no longer just about exchanging business cards in a room—it's about building relationships that continue long after the event ends.

I look forward to sharing some tips on how the most powerful networks today don’t just happen in person or on #LinkedIn — they happen when the two work together.

Not that long ago, the “standard” was a stiff corporate headshot, white background, and a forced smile. And that is what I used to tell clients....not any more! Diversity is the spice of life!

Today? Your photo is no longer just a picture. It’s part of your personal brand strategy: Your profile photo is your first leadership signal.

But here’s the real question I want to challenge you with: Is your photo still representing who you are — and where you’re going — professionally?
