Senior Associate, Business Development and Strategic Product Partnerships

I work in Business Development for LinkedIn. What does that mean? Well, I spend my days doing one of three things:

1.) Working with our legal team to execute and negotiate deals with companies in LinkedIn's ecosystem
2.) Working with engineering and product teams to build partnerships and technical integrations with those companies
3.) Connecting with internal stakeholders in product, engineering, marketing, and sales to drive the activation of these partnerships

I honestly love my job. I get to speak to startup founders and big tech co execs. I get to help shape the strategy for our business and our products. And most importantly, I get to meet people that will be in my personal and professional network for the rest of my life.

The skills I'm developing will last a lifetime. The relationships I'm developing will shape my life.

Associate, Business Development and Strategic Product Partnerships

I cold-called literally 50-100 people every day in this role. I was shocked that this practice still existed in a large tech company. But it taught me resilience, persistence, and how to connect with literally anyone in 30 seconds. I'm appreciative of this opportunity to get me started in my career and learn how to be a professional.

Sales Development

Someone who had done this program before me described it as "adult summer camp". Could not agree more. The BLP program was wonderful. It was the entry into big tech that I needed. It has completely changed my personal and professional life. The people I met in the program have become some of my best friends. 

For work, they threw us right into the fire. We spent 3 months on our customer service team learning how to support angry people paying tons of money for LinkedIn products. It helped me understand how we make money, why customers buy our products, and why they do not. I struggled a lot in this role. I think it was because I didn't focus enough on onboarding, and was excited about my "next play". This was a good lesson for me; you have to succeed in the role you're in before looking for the next one. 

We then went into recruiting. I was on our Data Science recruiting team. I had no idea what I was talking about but learned how to sell candidates on LinkedIn. I learned that sometimes our hiring practices favour prestige (big company, great school, etc) which made me passionate about supporting those from underrepresented backgrounds. 

Along with these two official "rotations", I built a lot of great relationships with folks that have become my mentors. I helped to sell our learning product (LinkedIn Learning) to my alma mater. I got to work on a proposal to sell LinkedIn to the Canadian government. And I started working on side projects on the Business Development team, which led to a full-time role about a year later. 

I learned it takes a lot of patience to get what you want. I learned that building authentic relationships with professionals is key. I learned that people want to help if you ask for it.

Overall BLP was an amazing experience. I learned a ton and would recommend anyone else to do the same to get their feet wet within the tech industry, specifically for new grads.

•	Managed a team of 13 volunteers to increase to manage the 240% increase in client usage of the Foodbank

BSI Engineering

Process Engineer

BSI Engineering is an engineering consulting firm headquartered out of Cincinnati, OH. BSI serves industries including specialty chemicals, food and beverage, facilities, aviation, consumer products, and more. My role is a Project Management/Engineer co-op with a wide range of responsibilities that affect our internal operations and our client work. Some of my responsibilities include:
•	Launching an internal initiative to re-vamp over 15 of our tools that are used in project execution. This initiative is ongoing and involves a project team of over 25 people.
•	Supporting the Process Engineering group by maintaining equipment lists, putting together data sheets, red-lining P&IDs, etc.
•	Learning how to perform line sizing calculations, read pump curves, perform pump sizing calculations, and design PFDs and P&IDs
•	Conducting interactive planning sessions, building templates to support the planning sessions, and providing training
•	Writing proposals and doing fee estimates for potential projects
•	Leading project meetings

Apollo Technology Group

The Apollo Technology Group is a group of companies that provides custom solutions to our customers. The main focus of the group is on the water treatment industry, however, we provide services in other industries. The group is young and rapidly growing as they deal in our most precious commodity, water. My main role with the group was to act as a project manager and establish standardized procedures for our projects. Some of my duties and accomplishments during my time with Apollo include:
•	Designing and implementing new project management processes and helping develop the project execution process, with the intention of using them for years to come 
•	Learning how to operate machinery and how our industrial water treatment skids are assembled and installed
•	Creating standard design guides to be used by technicians when building our custom systems, these guides are intended as risk mitigation tools, and to help increase the efficiency of our techs
•	Learning how to perform water quality tests (hardness, conductivity, chemical concentrations, etc.) and how chemical feed systems are maintained
•	Communicating directly with customers such as Entegris, 3M, and MasTec to drive custom projects
•	Keeping projects on budget and on track
•	Working with suppliers to source parts for projects
•	Building relationships with suppliers to ensure the best possible pricing and shortest possible lead times

The eVSM Group

The eVSM group is a provider of the leading lean toolkit (eVSM Mix) for both the Discrete Parts and Process Industries. My responsibilities over my time there consisted of:
•	Creating a technical blog based on the writings of Kevin Duggan, developing eLearning material for the eVSM Mix and Pharma stencils, and helping to QA new versions of the eVSM software
•	Working directly with customers such as P&G, GE, and AstraZeneca to provide support in helping them learn and implement the eVSM software into their value streams
•	Problem-solving ways to run online collaborative VSM workshops, virtual customer support sessions, and webinars to inform our customers on changes to eVSM
•	Helping develop, design, and test collaborative VSM platforms that could be used by multiple users simultaneously to attempt to replace in-person VSM workshops

• Had worked with OME as an assistant over several years while in High School
• Continued learning from OME about the marketing and execution aspects of a DJ & Event Business

An environmental, travel, and music enthusiast pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. Aiming to apply myself in a field that can touch as many of my interests as possible, and hope to contribute to fixing what I believe is our most pressing global issue; human impact on the environment. I recently finished my 5th co-op rotation and am continuing in a part-time role at BSI Engineering while I finish my senior year at the University of Cincinnati. Open to exploring opportunities in renewable/clean energies, process engineering, project engineering, and lean manufacturing.
