I'm starting a major new mission. At TitanX. My connection to TitanX didn’t begin with a job spec. It goes back to 2020, working with Ryan 🏋️☎️ Reisert  on the earliest expression of what would become this idea. We pressure-tested that prototype when we worked together, and saw something that cut straight through the industry’s noise: when you stop guessing about reachability and start with phone-verified data, the curve shifts. 

Connection rates stabilise. Conversations increase. Pipeline becomes something you can model, not mythologise. Fast-forward to 2025 and the phone channel has become harsher terrain. The PAD revolution has made reachability unreliable: flagged numbers, throttling, volatile connect rates and seller concerns around call transfer issues and more intimate call execution. It is like giving machine guns to five year olds. 

Most teams try to compensate by piling on more tech, more automation, more workflows. None of that solves the foundational flaw. If you can’t reliably reach the people you’re calling, everything downstream: CAC, payback, forecast accuracy, even quota design is compromised at source.

This is the problem TitanX is built to solve. Since those early days, I’ve stayed close to the people behind the idea; including Joey Gilkey, who became a friend long before any discussion about joining. What struck me wasn’t noise or hype; it was the rigour. 

TitanX treats pipeline as an economic system, not an activity log. Verified reachability is the foundation. Quality of call is the differentiator. Velocity is an output of intelligent design, not brute force.And it works. 

I saw it in 2020 in the earliest tests. I’ve seen it again as the team has matured the product, the data, and the execution logic. For a company at this stage, the clarity of thinking and the standard of delivery are exceptional; the kind of operating discipline you almost never see this early.

Why now?

Because the market has shifted from “nice to improve” to “must fix.” You can’t out-sequence collapsing connect rates. You can’t forecast your way around contaminated data. And you can’t build a credible commercial model if the first step — conversation — rests on guesswork.

The phone isn’t dead; it’s simply unforgiving. Respect the physics of the channel and it becomes the most reliable route to validated opportunity in B2B. Ignore the physics and the economics fall apart.

My role at TitanX is to bring a more forensic commercial lens to how this translates into strategy, value creation, and repeatable economics. That means designing coverage models grounded in reality, building motions aligned with how buyers actually behave, and helping organisations anchor their revenue engine on something durable.

The Theory of Constraints has always appealed to me because it strips operations down to something brutally simple: every system has one bottleneck, and the whole thing rises or falls on whether you can identify, manage, and eventually move past it. 

The best operators in the world (think Toyota, Amazon, SpaceX) didn’t win by optimising everything at once. They won by improving the limiting factor in the right order and refusing to kid themselves about where the real constraint lived.

When you apply that same lens to outbound, the pattern is unmistakable. 

The first and immovable constraint is connect rate. If you can’t reliably reach the market, nothing else matters. 

Once you unlock that, the bottleneck immediately shifts to list quality and targeting. You find out very quickly whether you’re speaking to the right people, at the right companies, with the right justification. 

Only then does message become the genuine limiting factor, and even then, many “messaging issues” are really targeting problems wearing different clothes. 

Talent almost never emerges as the true constraint until the system is producing a steady rhythm of meaningful conversations. And the final bottleneck; the one most organisations quietly fail at—is follow-up discipline. 

It’s unglamorous, compounding, and almost always the difference between pipeline that matures and pipeline that evaporates.

Once you see outbound through that sequence, the last decade of sales tech becomes easier to understand. The industry didn’t boom because we suddenly needed dozens of tools; it boomed because the field slowly lost the ability to run the underlying system. Instead of diagnosing constraints, we bought software to mask them. 

The absence of a coherent operating model created demand for platforms that claimed to be one. 

It worked until it didn’t. When budgets tightened, the whole stack was exposed. You can’t automate your way out of a misdiagnosed bottleneck. What many interpreted as the decline of outbound or the death of cold calling was really the return of basic operational physics: if you don’t run the system properly, the system doesn’t work.

The irony is that cold calling is more potent now than it has been in years—not because the world has changed, but because so few teams can run the production model honestly. 

Constraint literacy has become a competitive advantage. 

The small minority who still understand this sequence are quietly taking entire markets while everyone else argues about channels.

Outbound didn’t die. Operational discipline did. And that’s the part nobody wants to admit.

Thanksgiving (from a Brit who does not specialise in seasonal sentimentality, but given my deep ties to the land of the free I want to honour my wife's traditions and share with her family and my amazing colleagues and friends)

I’m not built for the grand emotional holiday post; thanksgiving is simply a useful moment to pause and acknowledge what has genuinely moved the needle this year.

I’m grateful for the people who made me sharper; the ones who challenged my thinking, argued back, pushed for clarity and refused to let me coast. The best conversations were the uncomfortable ones.

I’m grateful for the work that stretched me; the real kind involving ambiguity, high stakes, tight timelines and targets that should have been impossible. That pressure has been good for me. Being back in the environment is unleashing my potential on the world.

I’m grateful for the teams and partners who still care about the craft; people who believe execution matters, that discipline beats noise, and that you can build something meaningful without inflatable slogans or synthetic hype.

And, unusually for me, I’m grateful for the chaos; it clarified where I’m strong, where I’m weak and what actually matters heading into 2026.

No clichés. No soft lighting. Just a clear acknowledgement that progress is built with and by other people, whether they meant to help or not.

High Challenge, High Support. being obsessing over this combination of words recently.

Most companies can only handle one gear at a time. They either whip people to death and call it “high performance”, or they wrap everyone in emotional bubble-wrap and wonder why the numbers look anaemic. 

Both versions pretend to be culture. Neither produces scale.

Even though I’m barely a few days in TitanX  

What we are building here is something far rarer. A place where you are expected to operate like an adult and, inconveniently, also treated like one.

High challenge is the bit everyone claims they want until it arrives…It means standards that actually mean something. It means real ownership rather than the theatre of being busy. It means feedback that isn’t spoon-fed in the tone of a disappointed aunt at Christmas. It means pace that reflects the fact we are in a market where speed is not optional.

High support is the part most companies misunderstand entirely. It is not coddling. It is not endless Slack emojis. It is leaders who remove friction instead of contributing to it. It is product and data teams who listen and ship rather than perform. It is a customer strategy function that exists to turn noise into clarity so people can execute without drowning in ambiguity. It is a culture where you carry weight, but you are not left under a barbell with nobody spotting.

Put the two together and you get a commercially adult environment. The kind where people rise because the ecosystem is designed for them to rise, not because they’ve mastered the art of surviving dysfunction. You can feel it here already. Product, sales and customer teams behave like a single system rather than competing broadcast towers. Accountability is not treated like a novelty act.

This is the bit outsiders won’t understand until it’s too late. Our advantage isn’t only the tech or the data or the brand velocity. 

It’s the cultural equilibrium. High challenge and high support held together without flinching. I haven’t seen this for a long time. Maintain that ratio and we won’t simply scale. We’ll outgrow everyone who thought culture meant slogans on a wall and a quarterly town hall with biscuits.

If TitanX keeps this centre of gravity, we will build the sort of team people tell stories about. Not because we were nice or brutal, but because we were balanced enough to win…
