I help people with the copyediting and proofreading they need to polish and refine their writing. I bring to the table 40+ years as an information publisher, writer, editor, and proofreader. 

During my years in the field, I founded, built, and sold a specialty publishing business, Personnel Policy Service, Inc., focusing on employment law compliance.  
. 
We developed and kept up-to-date a comprehensive 800-page manual (print and digital) of model human resources policies. Each of the 60+ policy models was meticulously annotated for management insights and rationale plus all the laws, regulations, and court cases impacting the policy. 

In addition, we had an 8-page monthly newsletter and a weekly ezine. 

We were the leading experts in the practical day-to-day impact of complicated employment laws like the ADA, FMLA, and FLSA. Our guiding focus was to provide simple explanations to business owners, HR professionals, and lawyers on timely and difficult issues such as harassment, discipline, leaves of absence, and working from home (even before the pandemic).   

Our subscribers ranged in size from small businesses to industry giants like Monsanto and Cisco. 

In building the business, I gained extensive publishing, editing, and proofreading knowledge and experience by actively participating in the Specialized Publishing Industry Association (SIPA) programs in Washington. I served on its Board of Directors for eight years.

More recently, I sold our publishing assets to BLR/Simplify Compliance and then took time off to enjoy travel and devote time to local volunteer interests. 

However, I quickly realized how much I missed the writing and publishing world, and I am now helping others perfect their writing skills. So, if you’re looking for an experienced copyeditor and proofreader, I’m ready to help!

Chair of Selectboard serving as town's executive board, with overall responsibility for the town's $5M budget & operations, including administration, technology, public safety, waste management, and public works. 

Elected Selectperson striving to transform local government & ensure the upgrade to fiber optics throughout town - reaching the 43% unserved (without internet access) and 95% underserved (poor internet access).  Successfully secured Federal & State grants to upgrade infrastructure to fiber optics in 2025.

• Non-school appointing authority for town boards & committees (i.e., planning board, budget, education, information technology (IT), communications & other services.)
• Enter into & negotiate contracts on behalf of the municipality. 
• Sort out the various situations to determine the town's best overall course of action. 
• Active in the financial management of the town.
• Promote citizen & administration team approach for addressing the town's issues.
• Drive the budget process, directly reviewing budget requests & having input at all levels of the process. 
• Provide leadership in developing a capital improvement program, infrastructure development (i.e., broadband & technology), and risk management policies.
• Assume a lead role in all issues or policies with broad implications for the town's financial condition, including tax classification, free cash policy, use of a stabilization fund, financial reporting, and the audit process.

Supporting Dresden Digital Equity (nonprofit) as an board member fulfilling the duties of care, loyalty, and leadership, as well as the fiduciary responsibility to help steer the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, legal governance, and financial management policies and ensuring the nonprofit has adequate resources to advance its mission (fundraising).  

Leveraging nonprofit experience and industry contacts to facilitate the start-up, securing of funding, and ensure fiscal due diligence. 

Drseden Digital Equity, Inc. is a Maine nonprofit organization formed to promote access to broadband internet for the residents of the Town of Dresden (Maine).  DDE is established to support those who cannot or might not otherwise be able to afford that access and, in so doing, provide relief to the poor (13.7%), the distressed (10.6%), or the underprivileged throughout the Town of Dresden, Maine - irrespective of race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, or economic status, or religion.  

We helped secure a grant covering the cost of upgrading the telecommunications infrastructure to fiber optics, enabling the Town to move into the 21st century!
