Worked as a software developer to maintain and continue to develop a web application for the NTID department at RIT, which was used as a captioning aid for deaf students to read what the professor was saying while another person typed in their screen.

ParkPay 

After a startup-weekend event in 2017, the startup ParkPay tried to bring an automatic way of processing the parking tickets for cars in parking storages. 

I worked as a startup founder ranging from building a web application to communicating with other parties to include the parking mechanism in Malls.

We received a small $10K seed fund for developing an online VR science lab for homeschoolers. 

We researched the most common challenges of cost and availability that homeschoolers faced and recreated a dynamic VR experience that taught students how it worked.

Gathered customer feedback, built several prototypes, and participated in the RIT August Demo Day.

Open-sourced a responsive A-Frame component that switched elements based on the connected device.

Worked primarily as a Software Developer and Project Manager.

Founder

Managed the in-house start-up of EY PNG's tax compliance services arm on the ground, together with the day to day PNG tax and statutory compliance matters for its clients. This included the audit of tax balances for financial reporting, and staff mentoring and training. 

My hands-on work experience includes:
- Starting-up from scratch the internal functions for EY PNG's tax services arm on the ground in PNG
- Creating the internal administrative processes for EY PNG's tax services team to manage its clients
- Registering foreign and local companies with the IPA 
- Managing client's IPA annual statutory compliance obligations 
- Taxpayer registrations with the IRC
- Preparing, Reviewing and lodging Company, Partnership and Individual Tax Returns, Salary or Wages Tax Forms, GST returns, Business Income Payments Tax, Applications for Tax Clearance Certificates & Certificates of Compliance 
- Calculating & Reviewing Salary or Wages Taxes
- Checking Notices of Assessment and Statements of Accounts of the various tax types and liaising with the IRC regarding any discrepancies 
- Responding to a variety of client's queries regarding their PNG business & tax compliance matters 
- Drafting the global EY publications specific to the business & taxing environment in PNG
- Coaching junior staff on the job

Also created and carried out EY's graduate recruitment program in Papua New Guinea.

Assistant Manager - Tax

Started my career as a graduate accountant where I learnt about PNG tax and statutory requirements for doing business in PNG. I developed the skills to communicate with the IPA and the IRC to help manage the tax and statutory compliance obligations for the firms clients in a variety of industries.

I worked with the best of the best tax experts in PNG and actively participated in weekly tax trainings focused on how to professionally navigate & interpret the legal obligations of the PNG Income Tax Act and the Companies Act. 

The diverse client base provided the perfect opportunity to put knowledge into practice from setting up businesses in PNG, to maintaining all their tax and statutory compliance filings, handling all liaisons with the IRC and the IPA, and provide tax guidance to specific client needs.

I quickly built a relationship of trust with my colleagues, made evident by being the preferred coach for all the junior consultants in our tax team. With the senior team members I formed a solid reputation as a capable, dependable & efficient worker eager to learn and grow continuously.

I am on a quest to use smart tech tools to end the "brukim bush" money management I see amongst my highly-educated, modern, ambitious Wantoks who run their own micro-small-medium business. 

The use of smart digital business tools to learn, organize, understand, and manage small business finances are more available than ever before in PNG for my truly entrepreneurial Wantoks to start, grow and scale their dream businesses.

However, in my experience, one of the biggest problems is communicating basic, real-life & PNG-specific business financial education in transformative ways!

That's most likely a major reason why quality professional services like bookkeeping, accounting, tax & strategic financial planning are undervalued by PNG SME owners.

Since I value self-learning, quality, innovation, creativity & the use of smart tech tools, I'm combining these with my professional accounting & tax experience to elevate the business financial literacy levels of smart PNG'ns who want to grow their small business for long-term impact & financial success.
