Turning 40 in a couple weeks. Just joined the The Social Intelligence Lab Association and our inaugural Steering Committee. 

Eight years ago I couldn't explain what Nichefire  did. Now I'm sitting with the best social intelligence minds in the world.

Man, that hits different.

First, massive gratitude to Dr Jillian Ney for building this incredible community and believing Nichefire deserved a seat at the table. You changed everything for us. 🙏

I keep thinking about all the no's. The investors who passed. The advisors who said find something else. The nights delivering food wondering if I was delusional.

Every rejection felt personal. Every pivot request felt like betrayal. Because I could see something bigger. Not perfectly. Not with the right words yet. But I knew culture was predictive if you could decode it fast enough.

So we kept building. 🔥Michael Howard , 🔥Steven Brown , and I. Three guys in #Cincinnati with no venture backing, no Silicon Valley network, just conviction that brands needed to understand culture before their competitors did.

Now at almost 40, I'm finally in the pro leagues again. Different field, same feeling. Surrounded by the absolute best at what we do.

That gap is where I lived for eight years.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo case study hit even harder. Sony watched Lisbeth Salander evolve from victim to protector in real-time fan conversations. Caught the Me Too wave before it had a name. Positioned resilience while others were still processing trauma.

But the Chinese gum market? Man, that was wild.

Obama chews Nicorette at APEC. Chinese media goes nuclear on gum. Then Green Arrow superhero references start polluting Doublemint data. Suddenly you've got fandoms connecting chewing gum to superpowers. Makes zero sense until you realize fandoms don't need logic. They need symbols.

**Fandoms are the scout team of culture.**

They take things out of context, remix them, give them new meaning. They're pushing behaviors while brands are still running focus groups.

As an old football guy, I get it. A fanbase can make or break everything. Camaraderie. Loyalty. The emotional connection that turns customers into evangelists.

AI-generated K Pop Demon Hunters episodes. Full 30-minute fan-made episodes with pregnant characters, IBS storylines, pure chaos. My kid didn't care it was AI. He just wanted "more K Pop Demon Hunters."

That's when it hit me at #ObserveSummit listening to Jeff Yang talk about fandoms as cultural beacons. Gen Alpha isn't waiting for Season 2. They're generating their own.

Prediction markets + cultural intelligence = a surprisingly useful combo.

When I walked into the office this morning, I caught my co-founder 🔥Khalil El-Amin digging into Kalshi and Polymarket. He’s been monitoring these prediction markets and made a simple point:

These markets might be a real-time proxy for attention.

If people are placing bets, they’re paying attention - and that’s a complementary lens to the cultural insights & signals we already map and predict at Nichefire.

The question stuck with me: Could market activity help us separate signal from noise faster?

I had a light afternoon, so I vibe coded a scrappy prototype:

- Pulled the Kalshi API
- Wired n8n → Google Sheets
- Ranked topics by volume/open interest to see where attention is on Kalshi

It’s bare-bones by design. In a startup, speed to insight beats polish. Now we’ve got a daily pulse that lets us compare fast spikes from prediction markets against slower, durable shifts in our cultural intelligence layers. It’s definitely an MVP, but it moves our iteration loop from weeks to hours.

OpenAI  just signed with The Walt Disney Company. Not a lawsuit. A partnership.

Remember when my 5-year-old was watching AI-generated K-POP episodes? Full 30-minute fan creations with pregnant characters and IBS storylines? I said then that fandoms weren't waiting for permission. They were already living in an AI remix economy.

But I also warned about the copyright nightmare coming. Brands watching their IP get turned into "brain rot" content at algorithm speed. No control. No revenue. Just chaos.

Disney just flipped the script. Instead of suing AI companies into oblivion, they're partnering. Giving official access to their universe. Controlling the narrative while capturing the value.

This changes everything for the AI fandom phenomenon.

Studios get ahead of the copyright wars. AI companies get premium content legally. Fans get better quality experiences. Everyone wins.

The brands that partner now will own the AI-generated culture of tomorrow. The ones that don't? They'll be playing copyright whack-a-mole while their fans build elsewhere.

We're about to see AI fandoms go from underground to mainstream. From "brain rot" to brand-approved experiences. From legal grey zones to licensed gold mines.
