I realised something the other day…
and it changed how I think about buyer psychology completely.

I was catching up with a new friend in a coffee shop, and she started showing me stuff on her Instagram feed.
And I swear… I learnt more about her in those five minutes than the whole conversation before it.

Not in a creepy way…
but you know what I mean.
Your feed exposes your interests, your patterns, your personality.

The algorithm literally feeds you more of what you’re already pulled towards…
so it becomes this unfiltered mirror of who you are.

And it made me think…

If someone’s feed is full of:
“print money”
“make money online”
“side hustle ideas”
you instantly imagine the person behind it.
Escaping the 9–5, wants freedom, allergic to having a boss.

If another person’s feed is:
“how to crochet your own jacket”
“watercolour peonies”
“cottagecore everything”
you feel their whole vibe immediately.
Slow living. Creative. More intentional buying patterns.

Then you’ve got the:
“Audi R8 POV”
“watch collections”
“car detailing”
“luxury holiday POVs”…
pure status energy with identity-driven buying.

Three totally different worlds.
Three completely different emotional languages.

And to drill this home…
visit a friend you haven’t seen in years and look at their bookshelf.
It tells you everything.

Gardening
Fiction
Non-fiction
Fantasy
Self-improvement
Whatever it is… it reveals who they’ve become.

Yet most online educators ignore all of this.
They stick to bland buyer persona templates that don’t tell us anything real.

What they save.

It's centered around one question:

What do you want people to believe you’re best at?

But when that belief is fuzzy

Your copy rambles.
Your offer feels heavier.
Your confidence dips.
Your brand stops feeling like “you.”

And here’s the part no one talks about:

Trying to find your positioning usually makes it more wishy-washy at first.

You try on 12 different identities
and none of them fit quite right.

But positioning can’t be blurry.
It has to be stupid-clear
so people instantly get what you do
and why it matters.

And clarity gets harder when you live between two worlds...

Not scammy-funnel-guru
but not aesthetic-but-useless web design either.

Not weight-loss coach
but not wellness-yoga-moonwater coach.

Not corporate strategy
but not “manifest seven figures drinking cacao” either.

You’re the in-between.
The overlap.
The place the old labels don’t cover.

And guess what?
That’s the opportunity.

The in-between is where categories evolve.
Where brands differentiate.
Where your next level actually lives.

Your work has outgrown the language you’ve been using.
You’re not confused.
You’re expanding.

If you're in this season, here’s how to untangle it:

1. Write the beliefs you want your audience to hold about you.
(These matter more than your title.)

2. Clarify the real problem you solve for your highest-level client.
(Not the surface one.)

3. List what you’re not.
Elimination = instant clarity.

4. Name the intersection you operate in.
That’s your actual category.

Shaping perception is everything when it comes to getting people to buy, opt in, engage... all of it.

And it’s always the tiny details that get overlooked.

I’m currently working on a social media banner for an app one of my clients is launching. 

Sent over the first draft, got the feedback:
“Can we put that line in italics?”

Now… on the surface, that sounds like nothing. 
One click. One style change.

But in design, nothing is 'just' a style change.

It’s:
• Does this shift the visual hierarchy?
• Does it break consistency across the brand?
• Does it make the message sharper… or weaker?

These are the micro-decisions that shape trust, clarity, and ultimately... conversion.

In the video, I walk through exactly how I think about a request like this.

Not by obsession just about 'making it pretty'...
But from thinking about the bigger picture, and how we want to shape perception.

If you want to increase conversions…
go to an art gallery.

Sounds dramatic.
But stay with me…

People don’t walk into art galleries looking for information.
They go to feel something.

They stand there quietly.
They tilt their head.
They step back.
They lean in.

And somehow, without a single word being explained…
emotions come up.
Stories form.
Connections are made.

That’s the part people understand in art
and completely ignore in business.

Now let me make a snap judgement about you…

Are you reading this on an iPhone or a Mac?
It's likely that you didn’t choose Apple for the specs.
You chose it because you identify with the design.
Minimal. Simple. Intentional.

Apple didn’t win through logic...
or feature lists.
They won through perception.

Their design shapes how you feel.
About the product.
About the brand.
About yourself for using it.

And this is exactly why landing pages matter far more than most founders want to admit.

I’m not saying your sales page should be Picasso-level…
relax.

But here’s what does matter:

Design works on a subconscious level.
It creates emotion before logic kicks in.
It builds trust before copy is read.
It shapes perception before someone decides if you’re even worth listening to.

That’s why a Google Doc and an intentionally designed landing page live in completely different worlds.

Both can technically work…
but only one becomes an asset.

A proper landing page doesn’t just tell people about your offer.
It lets them experience your brand.

Through layout.
Through spacing.
Through hierarchy.
Through imagery.

People aren’t just deciding if they want the offer.
They’re deciding if they trust you.
If you’re credible.
If you’re worth their attention.

Which is why it still amazes me how often landing pages get ignored.
Or treated like an afterthought.
Or left as a “we’ll fix it later” problem.

Whether you realise it or not…
your design is already telling people exactly who you are.

I’ve had a handful of clients who have experienced their stuff being stolen, copied ect.

And it SUCKS.

Sometimes it’s just the layouts, frameworks, ideas..
Sometimes it’s literally word for word.
Pixel for pixel.
Ctrl c + ctrl v.

But you know what they can’t copy?

Your story.

(Well, they can… but the misalignment in authenticity will raise red flags either way)

Besides, when people buy info products, 99% of the time, they will check out your socials to see how legit you are.

So if greedy Garry has stolen the whole setup from manifesting Mandy, looking at his socials, you know that something will be off...
(Unless Garry is a woman, surrounded by crystals and does yoga)

There are two ways to present your story:

1. WRITE IT ✍️

Talk about your struggles before getting X result.
Go into the deep, dark places you experienced.

Share the struggles of figuring it out.

For example, on Dakota Robertson's landing page.
He talks about quitting his job at Domino's, the uncertainty he felt, and how brutal the start of his journey was.

On Magdalena Anna's landing page, we give an actual timeline of her journey from corporate burnout to living life as her best self through somatic work.


2. SHOW IT 🖼️

People LOVE the ‘before’ pics.

Staged photoshoots have their time and place..

But people know that it’s pretty easy to rent a studio (or a Lambo) and look like you have your life together.

But the photos of you at your old job, or at your messy desk with a mattress on the floor next to you.. is SUPER powerful.

It shows you’re real. 
It shows you know what it’s like to be in the reader’s shoes.
It shows you’ve gone through it.

Again.. On Dakota’s landing page, we have pics from when he was an electrician, and even a diary entry from years back.

On Magdalenas, we show photos from when she was a student, struggled with acne, and how she began her training towards becoming a coach.

Those are the things people CANNOT copy.

And it’s also the prime reason why creator businesses end up leaving money on the table when they think they can skip on funnel creation…

Or when they settle on using a generic template made for agencies, ecom, services ect.

As a creator, your value, is YOU.

Don’t water it down by not showcasing it effectively.

Friendly (ish) reminder for anyone running free events, webinars ect...
Please, for the love of conversions…
use opt-in forms on your landing pages.

No $0 checkouts.
↳ If something is free, asking for my card details is unhinged behaviour.
Name + email is enough. Don’t make this weird.

No Calendly links.
↳ Calendly feels like I’m booking a 1:1 with you.
I pause. I re-read. I get confused.
Confusion kills sign-ups.

Tiny moments of friction = people quietly disappearing.

And this is the part that hurts to watch:

I keep seeing people with non-beginner positioning
still running very beginner setups.

I know you can deliver.
I know your free event is probably great.
But your sign-up flow is not doing you any favours.

You’re asking people to trust you…
then handing them an experience that says
“I haven’t really thought this through.”

If that stung. I'm sorry.
But it's probably a sign you need to fix it.

At minimum, please do this:
hire someone on Upwork who vaguely understands funnels
and set up a clean, no-friction opt-in flow.

That alone will increase sign-ups.

Or… if you want the full thing done properly, DM me.

I’ll set it up so your free stuff:
→ actually feels like a no-brainer
→ is stupidly easy to sign up for
→ nurtures people before and after
→ and makes your brand look legit, serious, and NOT beginner

I’ve had 20+ invites to free events in the last few weeks
and this mistake keeps showing up all the time.

Fix it and you’ll get more opt-ins and finally have a setup that reflects the level you say you’re playing at.

Black Friday feels like it’s been running for 12 weeks straight...

Great for clients.
Bad for stress levels, and the amount I'm spending on coffee.

Most people don’t realise how much prep the big brands do for this week.

The offer planning.
The email sequences.
What happens after BF?
What about Cyber Monday?

Page builds start a month in advance.
Homepages get swapped out.
Every touchpoint gets optimised because traffic is insane.

BUTTT...

You don’t actually need all of this.
You don’t even technically need a Black Friday offer...
(I know- shocker!)

It all depends on you, your brand, and your customer.

For this client, a BF offer is basically a must-have.
The audience is price-sensitive and LOVES a good deal.
(All pulled from data, not just guesswork btw)

But for coaches, premium creators, and luxury brands?
You need to be way more intentional.

Yes, you might sweep up a few sales.
But if you care about client success, completion rates, and attracting aligned people... not just discount hunters.... you need to be thoughtful about how you do these “crazy” sales.

Maybe you don’t need to go all out.
Maybe it’s a quiet announcement with a curated angle.
Maybe you make people apply or sell themselves for it.
Maybe you bundle your low tickets into one clean, no-brainer offer.

The point is simple:
Always think through the lens of alignment.

Black Friday is ending…
but New Year is coming.
(I know kinda scary...)

And New Year is HUGE for the coaching + course space.

Ask yourself...
What mindset will your ICA be in then?
What are they craving?
Is there an offer that naturally meets them where they are?

Design and plan for that.
Not for the calendar, and the noise.
And definitely not because 'everyone else is doing it.'

I worked with this client on one of my very first projects… like four or five years ago.
And he’s come back.

But this time it’s for something completely different.
Not an info product.
An actual app.
Which is crazy exciting because it’s a new space for me… 
But weirdly at the same time, it really isn’t.

The more we talked through his positioning, vision, ect, the more I realised that the info work I've done is a HUGE advantage…

Especially considering that info products are just that-
INFORMATION.

Not an app you use to make life easier.
It requires the customer to put in work to get the outcome.
Not just tap a couple of buttons here and there.

Bottom line being:
Emotions are the key drivers for conversions.
'Duh' right?

But so many of the designers you hire forget this...
And no wonder we get pretty pages that fall flat.

After we wrapped up the VIP day and he sent me this amazing review, he literally asked...
“So what else can you help me with…?”

Which made me sit back and think about just how many skills I’ve picked up along the way:
UI/UX
Positioning
Emails
Copywriting
User testing
Design
Brand and creative direction
Funnel strategy
Offer creation

I used to overthink this a lot… like maybe it was a bad thing to do so much.
But honestly… with AI… I think it’s kind of the opposite.

If you actually know what you’re looking for, it becomes the best tool ever.

It’s why I was able to completely transform his landing page in just a day.

Not just making it pretty… but making it emotionally deep and aligned with what the app is really about.

Real talk:
Half of the “conversion problems” creators think they have are actually confidence problems.

→ You can’t sell if the thing people land on makes you cringe.
→ You can’t step into authority if you’re hiding the links.
→ You can’t grow if you’re constantly explaining your offer in DMs, content or ads.

(That’s for sparking curiosity my friend… not for doing the job your sales page is supposed to do.)

And look… I don’t know where you sit on the woo-woo spectrum of energy, mindset and frequency…
but CONFIDENCE does leak into everything.

• Your tone
• Your presence
• Your decisions
• Your sales energy
• Your ability to take up space

A clean, clear, aligned funnel doesn’t just convert better...
It makes you feel like the version of you who actually OWNS their work, their mission, their vision.

And when I say funnel, I mean the full ECOSYSTEM your audience walks through:

Your landing page
↳ where people decide in three seconds if you’re the real deal.

Your opt-in pages
↳ where even the free stuff feels premium.

Your newsletter
↳ where getting weekly emails from you feels like a privilege, not an interruption

Your call booking page
↳ where you set the tone and people arrive ready, prepared and already half-sold.

Your email sequences
↳ where people feel seen, understood and actually connect with you as a human.

Your thank you pages
↳ where most creators disappear, and you reinforce confidence in the decision they just made.

This is what a FUNNEL actually is.
A fine blend of experience, clarity, and positioning mixed into one big pot to make you the choice.

Not countdown timers.
Not 48 bonuses.
Not slapping an offer stack onto a template and calling it a strategy.

And here’s the part I had to make peace with:

You will always see creators “crushing it” with painfully mediocre pages.
For a long time, I genuinely didn’t get it.
Now I do.

Not everyone wants to be intentional.
Not everyone sees design as strategy.
Not everyone cares how they show up.
Not everyone is thinking about perception or long-term authority.
Some are just here for quick wins, and that’s fine.

They’re simply not my clients.

My clients care.
They want alignment.
They want clarity.
They want things to feel like them.
They want the brand and sales assets they’re proud to share.

Bottom line is...
When your funnel is created with intention, it reflects the level you're playing at (beginner or crushing-it authority vibes)
It can either shrink your authority or expand it.
It can open up a world of opportunity or block you from it.

And it all comes to how you perceive yourself, and how you think about your business too.

Sunburn? Gone in days.
These landing page mistakes? Apparently immortal.

Found this clip of me in Thailand two years ago
sunburned, sweating, borderline melting in a tiny coworking booth
reviewing landing pages for hours…

And honestly
nothing has changed.

Creators are still dropping gorgeous, high-production videos on their pages
cinematic edits
beautiful storytelling
full hero’s journey
and then…

absolutely nothing underneath.

No depth.
No clarity.
No structure.
No offer breakdown.
No transformation explained.

And here’s the part no one seems to grasp:

Some people will land on your page,
look at your fancy video
and simply choose NOT to press play.

Not because they hate you
but because people skim
they're impatient
or they’re in line at Starbucks trying to order a latte.

Those eyeballs can still convert.
Those eyeballs can still get curious about your offer...

But not if the rest of your page is giving 'half-finished group project energy'.

Yes, videos are incredible.
They build trust fast.
They add emotion and depth.
They’re great for storytelling.

But they should support the page
not be the entire page.

Because if the content underneath is weak
confusing
or missing the basics
your beautiful video won’t save the page.

Two years later...
I watch this clip and realise the mistake is still everywhere.
(Also, should probably invest more in sunscreen)

Videos are powerful
but you can't expect them to always reel people in.

Structure, clarity, skimmability...
Are just as important, if not more.

So yes
invest in the video
but please don’t forget to build the house that holds it.
