Technical Program Management. Its the craft of solving problems that come from scaled execution of strategically important initiatives.

That's a mouth-full! But it just boils down to the fact that TPM's get big complex things done.

Having spent a decade in various tech roles, I am able to successfully navigate the complex interdependencies of large initiatives. I practice the core skills of planning, stakeholder management, risk management, communication management, dependency management, system design, and leadership.

These can all be summed up in what I call The TPM Craft Framework: Program Management, Technical Versatility, and Leadership. In my newsletter (The TPM Craft), I regularly dive deep into those topics.

Outside of my 9-5 I spend time with my family, read books, write, exercise, watch movies....etc. No major special hobbies, mostly just family time.

I may not know everything, but I can learn anything.

😫 I've done the unthinkable.
🤯 I am no longer a Staff Technical Program Manager.
😅 As of this week, I am a Senior Product Manager. 

I recently made a lateral move within HashiCorp / IBM from the role of a Technical Program Manager to a Product Manager.

It was all fairly sudden, but aligned well with the goals of the business and my hunger for growth and learning new things.

The TPM community is...remarkable.
Such a tight-nit group of talented people!
It is sad to no longer have the title of Technical Program Manager.

At the same time, my mind is enveloped in the fascinating pursuit of expanding my skillset in the tech domain.

✅ Started my career doing Engineering to build cool stuff.
✅ Shifted into Technical Program Management to bring people together to build cool stuff.
✅ Now pivoting into Product Management to define the cool stuff we get to build.

Definitely the right next step for me at this time.
