At McDonald’s my current role is a crew trainer however, it did not start off this way. I first started working for McDonald’s in July 2015 as a crew member and then 8 months later I was given the opportunity to progress. This entailed a lot of my own time to complete the training in order to become a crew trainer. The role as, a crew trainer requires a lot of hard work as it is down to me to ensure staff are doing their jobs correctly. I must also ensure all customers are satisfied and if they are not, I will rectify the problem and take the necessary steps to ensure they are pleased.  I must also ensure all new starters are trained up to a high standard as this is extremely important as not only does this reflect badly on McDonald’s if new starters are trained incorrectly, it reflects badly on me because as their crew trainer, I should be training them up to a high level where they can carry-out their shifts independently.

Whilst undergoing a vacation scheme with Tuckers Solicitors it has given me an incredible insight into a criminal law firm, especially with it being the UK's leading criminal firm.  I have been present at both magistrates and crown courts which has given me great knowledge of how the UK's legal system works. Not only have I been present at court hearings and trials, but I also had the pleasure to write up case summaries beforehand. Due to legal aid being one of the fundamental features of criminal law, I have been provided with great practical knowledge on how the legal aid system works.

As part of my work experience at sixth form, I completed a week’s work experience at Walker Construction alongside the managing quantity surveyor. I thoroughly enjoyed my week at Walker Construction and learnt a great deal about quantity surveying. My tasks included going through contracts, pricing up jobs and ensuring the correct sub-contractors where being used for particular jobs. This work experience was challenging yet so enjoyable and by the end of the week, I knew exactly what I was doing. Walker Construction even offered me a job at the end of the work experience to do administration work for them.

I am an ambitious, enthusiastic and committed LLB Law Graduate perusing a career within Criminal Law as a Trainee Solicitor. I have a genuine passion to provide individuals access to justice by being that helping hand at such an emotive time in ones life. Throughout my degree I volunteered at the Citizens Advice Bureau as an advisor and Canterbury Combined Law courts as a legal companion. I understand that alternative methods of dispute resolution are just as important in practice, and as a result, I chose to study civil and commercial mediation in the second year of my LLB. My enthusiasm for mediation then lead me to  compete in the UK Student Mediation Competition 2020 in Glasgow in which our university successfully won first place and I was awarded the second Best Individual Mediator.
