Hey, thanks for taking the time to learn more about my story.

I began my entrepreneurial journey back in 2012 simply because I was working in a job that well, I hated. My creative talents weren't being used and I felt unappreciated for the time and energy I gave to that company.

I'm a musician turned business owner. Yes, I once dreamed of being a rockstar, dropping out of college at one point. I did finish college but eventually found myself at the job I hated, feeling stuck. I knew I wanted out so I took action. I used my knowledge of selling music gear on ebay and got the help of a mentor to launch my own ecommerce business!

After making a small investment of $2k, I ran that company solely on ebay for the first year, while working the other job. I then took a Ieap of faith and quit my job to be a FT entrepreneur. I quickly launched on Amazon, developing a multi-channel strategy to grow the business. After growing for 6 straight years, that business came to a screeching halt in 2016, due to market pressures. At a crossroads, I quickly had to decide, how to utilize my ecommerce skill set. I started freelancing, quickly seeing the demand for helping brands navigate the Amazon marketplace. And that was the start of my current venture.

I ate ice cream for breakfast this week and it was nothing short of amazing.

Maybe even a dream come true.

Well, to be clear, I ate protein ice cream.

To be even more specific, I ate Vanilla Bean FroCo from Smearcase FroCo.

As a kid that grew up loving ice cream, this is a win.

I’ve been tracking Joseph R. Rotondo and his FroCo movement for a bit because I love ice cream and protein. Put those together and you’ve got me hooked like any fish on the line in a HARDY or Morgan Wallen song.

I haven’t been able to get it in Cincinnati or Florida when I’ve traveled yet. I know you’re gonna get it nationwide though Joe. Keep pushing.

So being in Nashville for a quick day and a half for Amazon’s unBoxed Ad conference, and knowing Smearcase FroCo has distro there in Turnip Truck Market, my mission became clear.

If you a see a spike in units for this week, you know why now. 😉

My home is decently stocked now but I just might keep eating ice cream for breakfast. So, supplies may run low.

I only had time to eat half the carton on my way to a meeting and I still got 19.5g of protein for 225 calories, so equivalent to many protein bars. Flavor was great and the texture was uniquely cottage cheese while being smooth. Color me impressed.

I’ve heard people complain about the “protein movement” and how not everything needs protein.

Quality of protein 💯 matters but eating more protein for most Americans is arguably better than the majority of nutrient sparse packaged foods out there.

I love love love that people are thinking outside the box with food AND finding ways to incorporate more whole foods into their products while keeping macros on point.

I also love working with brands like this so they can Win on Amazon. We need more great products out there. Amazon has amazing opportunity but it’s complex. My team and I make Amazon Simplified.

Amazon’s Creative Agent surprised me.

I decided to go to a Hands on Keyboard session (for all you non-corporates it just means you’re literally doing work on your computer keyboard 😉) at unBoxed that gave some practical guidance on using Amazon’s genAI creative studio.

My team at Cartology has been using genAI but we’ve been leveraging different technologies. So this felt like a great time to explore.

We still use real photos. We still have human made assets. GenAI helps us fill in the gaps in a high quality and affordable way. Call me crazy but it’s also just cool to try new things.

I went into this session wanting to get Amazon’s perspective on their tool.

Once I got in there and started reading through their directions, I then wanted to see how far I could push this thing.

What was the wildest thing I dream up and would it break?

It didn’t.

While there were some things it wouldn’t do for legal reasons, like using copyrighted songs, it didn’t stop when it said “No.” It offered solutions.

On my most recent From East to West: Amazon AMA with my buddy Brett Bohannon, I walked through my test.

Still image to Christmas video ad in about an hour with no new inputs on my end other than prompts. 🤯

Here’s why I love this…

I believe genAI is all about enabling humans to be more productive and more human.

I got to let my imagination run free and Creative Agent made it happen.

That’s exactly what genAI can do.

The most impressive thing was when I asked it to make changes to images, it didn’t totally change or re-render every single pixel. It just changed the specific piece I asked it to, which I know wasn’t possible earlier this year.

This is the democratization of tech. It doesn’t cost, except Amazon’s normal fees 🤣. Plenty of other people have posted about that.

There will still be a need for human or analog content.

Now, we can accelerate creative production with tools like Creative Agent.

Shoutout to Jenny Liu and her team for building some amazing tech from which so many brands are going to benefit.
