Low-Code Tools for Community Builders | Andy Claremont

Being able to configure software was how I got started in tech. It was enough to build company websites, employee intranets, and customer communities.

It wouldn't be enough these days.

AI is taking over the "implement and configure" role. It started with software engineering and now it's coming for more knowledge work.

If I were starting out today, I'd focus on honing skills like:

- Researching problems and conceiving possible solutions
- Writing detailed plans rich with context and clear direction
- Applying discretion/taste when reviewing and refining AI output

Don't get me wrong. You still need to understand what the AI does when you give it a set of instructions, because you're still accountable for its output.

But knowing how to read docs, follow instructions, and troubleshoot errors? AI can do it *way* more efficiently. Our challenge now is to move up a level, get more strategic, and decide what AI should work on instead.
