Leadership, Family, and Health: Why I Integrate, Not Balance

People ask how I balance being a CEO, husband, and dad.
The truth is, I don’t balance them, I integrate them.

Sleep might be the hardest discipline I’ve built.

Not diet.
Not workouts.
Sleep.

Because no one sees it.
No one praises you for going to bed at 9:30.
And the world will always give you one more reason to stay up.

This NYT piece highlights something important:

It’s not just how long you sleep.
It’s how consistent you are.

Going to bed and waking up at the same time every day (even weekends) is as important as how much sleep you get. And the great thing is this “hack” doesn’t cost more time.

For me, the shift was turning sleep into a mindset.

Sleep is the most important thing I do all day.

Just like I show up to work on time every day,
I show up to bed on time every day.

And I don’t rely on willpower.

Here’s what that actually looks like:

→ My phone shuts off from 9pm–7am.
→ It lives in another room at night.
→ No screens 60 minutes before bed.
→ I don’t look at my phone first thing in the morning.
→ I lock it so I’m not tempted

Simple.
Free.

But powerful.

When I treated sleep like a meeting I refuse to miss, everything changed:

✅ Better workouts.
✅ Sharper thinking.
✅ More patience with my kids.
✅ Better mood.
✅ Fewer cravings.

Longevity isn’t built in heroic bursts.
It’s built in quiet discipline.

And the truth is — most people don’t need another hack.
They need a clear, personalized plan they’ll actually follow.

Longevity Isn’t Restriction. It’s Leverage.

When I first started tracking my own health data, I treated it like a report card, something to fix, not something to learn from.

Over time, I realized I’d been missing the point.

Longevity isn’t about restriction. It’s about leverage.
It’s understanding which behaviors amplify your biology and which quietly drain it.

When I started viewing my own data as a dashboard instead of a diagnosis, everything changed.

I could see patterns I’d never noticed before — how travel disrupted sleep, how late meals shifted glucose, how recovery shaped focus and patience.

That awareness gave me direction.

What Gut Health Really Tells You About Performance

I used to think gut issues were isolated, just food, digestion, maybe stress.
Then I ran into it myself.

Last year, I tested a supplement-heavy longevity protocol, everything looked good on paper: adaptogens, probiotics, fasting, high-protein, low-carb.
But within weeks, my energy dipped. I was bloated, foggy, and my recovery tanked.
I told myself it was just part of the “adjustment phase.” It wasn’t.
