IT Intern [Data center and Infrastructure]

As a proud member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, I have always been passionate about energy management, especially real-time control. Presently, I work as a University Research Assistant at Otto von Guericke University in Germany, where I focus on optimizing smart grids. A big part of my work involves using IEC 61850 protocols and the VILLAS Node real-time simulator to study how transmission and distribution systems interact. I’m particularly interested in how distributed generation can be better integrated into HVDC interconnections.

Lately, I’ve been working on a project that looks at improving smart grid systems through transatlantic HVDC connections. It’s an exciting challenge, as we’re figuring out how these systems can work together more efficiently. I also use Python and machine learning to tackle real-world energy problems—one of my recent projects involved predicting voltage demand in distribution substations using smart meter data. It’s been a great way to blend my love for data science with my expertise in energy management.

Over the years, I’ve had the chance to work in different industries. At LG Energy Solution, I helped manage battery systems, and at Leadway Pensure, I worked on improving database systems. These experiences taught me a lot about system optimization, safety, and operational efficiency. Back home in Nigeria, I was part of efforts to improve energy distribution, speed up fault resolutions, and make the power grid more reliable.

On the technical side, I work with Python, MATLAB, and SQL, and I have experience using Hypersim and IEC 104 protocols for grid communication. I also rely on tools like Power BI and Asana to stay organized and track progress. Looking ahead, I’m excited about the future of energy and always looking for ways to contribute to smarter, more sustainable power systems.
