If even senior leaders have to jump through hoops from their own IT teams to experiment, something’s off. Big companies need a different procurement mode otherwise they won’t move fast enough to adopt these tools.

We were in Indianapolis last week for the annual Damar Gala. They’re one of lovely clients. They welcomed us with such warm arms. It was an incredible experience!

We’ve been working with Damar Services, Inc., a nonprofit that supports children and adults with autism and developmental disabilities, to layer AI into parts of their organization. 

The project itself has been incredibly rewarding. The people there are so thoughtful and mission-driven. It’s been an absolute pleasure getting to know them. Ryan Kurt thank you for the introduction.  

We even got to see John Mulaney who performed at the Gala, which was wild!

The AI Healthcare Conference today was one of the best I’ve attended in years. Kudos to Shaper Capital, Protege, and Fractional AI for hosting. 

Wrapped up the day of energizing conversations with a keynote from Vinod Khosla.

Attending an event at Harvard Business School this week in Boston. All about AI implementation in the enterprise. Part of the pre-work was reading a case.

Never went to business school, so moments like this feel pretty cool. That’s also after a few meetings with $20B+ funds in Chicago to kick off work with them.

If you told Jay 10 years ago these are the weeks he’d be having, he’d probably say: “Yeah… your life is pretty freaking awesome.”

Grateful that Casper has become a vehicle for me to connect with and learn from so many incredible people.

Max is one of our tech leads. He’s also become a bit of a celebrity in the San Diego AI scene 💫 

He’s been hosting a number of evente, some directly in partnership with Anthropic. 

The early vibes and format that Max and the team experimented with is now getting formalized and rolled out more broadly under the name Claude Impact Labs, which Max will be hosting its first one next Saturday.

We’ve bootstrapped Casper to work with >20 concurrent clients through inbound leads, partnerships and founder led sales in ~2 years. 

We’ve built a lot of automations to help the business grow and to allow myself and Derek to only be spending time with clients. 

Now we’re looking for a GTM Engineer to take ownership of those systems and continue building them out and allow us to keep scaling the business. 

The right person has already been experimenting with tools like Claude, understands GTM infrastructure (CRM, automations, outbound systems), and can translate these new workflows into systems.

Yesterday I spoke at the The AI Lab Community meeting with Ryan Kurt and Alex Lieberman on how to implement AI into enterprises for GTM / sales.

One thing I walked through: how we have automated our own entire go-to-market flow at Casper Studios. Works across three key steps: 1.) finding a lead, 2.) closing a lead, and 3.) starting the client engagement. 

None of this required a dev team (but may be faster if you involve them). Just Claude and your existing data. Let me know if you have any questions - happy to walk you through any part of this.

Across the board, last week was the busiest I’ve seen for AI services partners in the last few years. Inbound was up everywhere.

Something seemed to flip. Maybe public market noise? Maybe board pressure? Hard to pinpoint.

But everyone is locked in right now. It’s inspiring to observe in our own company and our partners companies. 

Really does feel like a once in a lifetime moment. We’re excited to be in the middle of it.

All the major labs are partnering with MBB and Big 4 which makes sense. There's plenty of room for smaller firms (like Casper Studios hehe) too.

We're in conversations with some of these larger AI firms about partnering. We're also starting to subcontract under the GSIs because the supply of talent that knows how to implement AI is still tight. 

Lots of room to grow here. Lots of room to partner with the whole ecosystem to help implement AI into the economy.

Our team just made some big upgrades to the site. We added 5+ new client case studies, tightened up how we describe our offerings, and secured casperstudios.com instead of the .xyz.

It feels like a real step forward :)

The main insight on how we already working with large F1000s? We're getting procured through their consulting firm of record; the one that’s been working with them for 10+ years. We join their team, and they deploy us to their larger clients.

This helps in several ways. We can move faster to provide value to clients. We can also provide value to the consulting or agency of record by teaching them how to use AI faster. And then when the trust is high, we can cross-sell into other clients they have in their portfolio.

This is where the BD and partnership chops really come in handy. It’s also why I don’t really think, at least today, anyone is a “competitor.” Show me a competitor and I’ll tell you how we can support each other and grow both of our businesses. 

Our GTM strategy for the next 2-3 years is literally to be best friends with everyone.

You've bought a bajillion AI tools. Some work. Most don't work well together. Now you're sitting on a stack of point solutions. Each solves one narrow problem but creates a new coordination problem every time you add another.

The next few months? Consolidation. Right now, all roads lead to Claude (Chat, Cowork, Code).

Let me explain.

Product designers have this concept called the Double Diamond. Start at a single point. Expand outward, explore the full problem space. Converge back to a focused insight. Expand again into solutions. Converge on the real answer. It's a framework for how complexity works - you start simple, things get messy, then they consolidate. Over and over.

Platforms follow the same pattern. Craigslist had everything in one place. Jobs, apartments, dating, rides, furniture. All on one ugly beautiful website. Then each category unbundled into its own billion-dollar company. Airbnb took rentals. Uber took rides. Tinder took dating. LinkedIn took jobs. One platform became dozens of specialized ones. That's the first expansion. Over time, those companies get huge and split apart again.

AI is in the same motion.

Two years ago every company started at the same point: "I need AI." That turned into a spending spree. A writing tool here. A coding copilot there. Legal AI. Sales chatbots. Meeting summarizers. Healthcare AI. Fraud detection. Supply chain optimization. Image generation. Customer service automation. 

Workflow tools. So many tools.

That's where we've been. The widest point of the diamond.

Now the conversation is shifting. Especially with F100s. They don't need more tools. They need help converging. Redesigning systems. Taking those early bets and building an ecosystem that actually works together.

Where it goes after that is the next diamond. Nobody knows how wide it opens.
But sitting across 20+ engagements right now, the pattern is clear: the value isn't the tool anymore. It's how the system is designed. That's why we don't care which AI tool you use. We care about designing the system that makes it all work.

This is where the work lives for the next 12 months. It's hard. It's change management. It requires hand-holding, time in person, trusted relationships.

We're here for all of it.

Companies are still underestimating LinkedIn for sales and talent acquisition. At Casper Studios, we’ve had 10+ teammates to create content. The velocity of new and repeat business is increasing. Higher-quality talent keeps reaching out.

All content is high quality. It has to clear our bar. Beyond that, the team has real freedom in how they show up and what they talk about. It works way better when it actually feels like them.

Behind the scenes, we have agents running that:
-Extract insights from our meeting transcripts
-Monitor competitive research to see what people are talking about
-Flag risks, tighten language, and make small improvements (we still miss things like we did today on one, but it gets better every week)
-Bonus: As things get more complex, you can use these to also reach to our audience. We’ve been leaning into that more recently

None of this works if the founder or CEO isn’t leading. You can’t just tell your team to “do AI” and expect it to happen. You can’t just tell your team to “do content” and expect it to happen.

Those are now core parts of the job.

Once you start, something interesting happens. The team has fun with it. They get inbound for their time. They meet sharp people. They share what they’re building for on platform and internally.

And once that starts, you feel the pull of the platform and it's addictive.

Chatted with 5+ PE funds this week.  I think some of them that want AI implemented across their fund/portfolios may decide it’s easier to buy that business rather than hire it repeatedly. Let me explain...

Right now it still feels early. Most funds are exploring. Portfolio companies have bought tools, but very little has actually been implemented across the organization. Those I’m speaking with all seem slightly unclear where to begin, what to prioritize, which portfolio companies to focus on first, and what the right timeline for implementation should be.

We're starting to partner with many of these funds to help them to answer these questions. 

Here's a scenario that came to mind...
Imagine acquiring an AI services firm at 6–10× EBITDA. The firm keeps operating normally, selling to external clients and growing through its own GTM channels.

But the PE fund now has access to implementation capacity. When portfolio companies start AI projects, the firm gets introduced as a potential partner.

Even if only a few portfolio companies become customers, it creates a baseline layer of demand while the firm continues to grow independently in the market. The costs that would otherwise leave the portfolio would be retained.

If AI deployment improves EBITDA across even a few portfolio companies, the return on the acquisition can exceed the purchase price of the services firm itself.

When we worked on the Netflix project with Omnicom, they were thinking about it the same way. Omnicom had previously acquired a technology agency to build internal capacity for technical development, so they could support more complex builds directly for their clients.

From the fund’s perspective, the acquisition becomes two things at once:
1.) an operating capability that can help portfolio companies (and the fund) move faster on AI
2.) a standalone services business that continues compounding

Whether this becomes a common strategy, still unclear. I'm also honestly learning more about this space myself. Challenge my POV pls!

I’ve been noodling on a piece of short fiction set in SF, 2035. Sharing early thoughts - curious to get your feedback….

The premise: What happens when we finally learn to quiet the voice in our heads (the anxious one, the 3am one, the one Buddhism, meditation and therapy spent millennia trying to quiet) and then replace it with a “better” AI one?

The story follows a guy named Jay (lol) through a single Tuesday. Morning coffee chosen for him based on his cortisol levels and sleep scores. Work meetings where both sides are being coached in real time by their AI. A bike ride over the Golden Gate where the product schedules 90 seconds of silence at the exact moment the ocean view hits. Because it knows that view will move him.

The tension is a mix of utopia and dystopia. That’s what makes this and life generally more interesting to me; especially when our world is so black or white. 

The AI makes his life better by every measurable standard. He’s faster, healthier, better at his job. 

The issue is that he can’t remember the last time he made a decision without it. He doesn’t know if he likes his own coffee. He can’t choose a cereal. The muscle for deciding anything has gone away.

Then his AI goes quiet for an afternoon. There’s a bug. And the world gets louder and messier and harder and more alive than it’s been in years.

He tells his wife. He tells his friends. “I’m feeling naked”. He tries to convince others that they should try turning the voice off too. It’ll be more authentic. Some listen others think he’s a Luddite. 

Sharing this early because I want to pressure test the concept. Does this resonate? What’s missing? Any other themes I should pull on?

Chicago was incredible. Met with two funds while in the city. One asset manager managing >$100B and one fund of funds managing >$30B. Both impressive, but at very different stages of AI adoption.

Most of the conversations centered around how they can leverage Claude across the organization. 

Specifically how to build “skills” and operationalize them across teams. We shared how we’ve been thinking about rolling this out across companies. The discussion kept coming back to change management.

One fund is already deep in the process. They’ve pushed through much of the internal red tape and are further along than even many tech companies we work with. Was super impressive. 

The other knows exactly where they want to go, but needs to work hard with the right internal stakeholders across IT, Security, and Legal on how to get there.

When we walk into companies, they’re all in different moments in time. Some are still in the past. Others are in the present.

We try to stay in the future and help bring the rest of the economy there.

This is an internal Slack note from Oscar, our Head of Design, about a skill he's built and shared for others on the team to use. I think this is one future of how teams can think about AI implementation.

A lot of the work in AI for companies is distilling down what makes each person on your team great at what they do. In this case, Oscar thought about what makes him a great designer and turned that into skills and MD files that can be shared with the rest of the team.

Here's how it works in practice.

Let's say I'm building a POC in Claude. I can now call on the "Casper Design System" skill, and the output isn't just generic AI-generated stuff - it actually reflects how we think about design. It's as simple as prompting: "please pull [insert skill] to create the designs for [insert product idea]."

I need to create my own version of this for writing, sales, and proposal generation so the rest of the team can use it too. The rest of the team has already been doing this for engineering. Derek has done the same for helping to think through product strategy. It's so wild how fast this is moving and how good the output is IF we've done the thinking up front. 

This is also what we're doing with companies: helping them distill their expertise into skills that can be passed around to the rest of the organization.
