Working in the social media research and insights team, in order to help clients understand the results and benefits of social media.

My role has a focus on qualitative data and social media trends research, helping people to get the most out of their social media marketing.

I am responsible for the marketing and social media strategy for Hydrogen itself, overseeing a team to produce social content across all channels; blogs; website content and design; and search engine marketing.

I am also lead of several exciting accounts, a role which sees me oversee a team to create and implement social media marketing strategies, deliver engaging content on a day-to-day and project basis, and manage social budgets.

Equator

At Equator, I handled community management for various high profile clients, creating social content to increase engagement and reach.

This included managing day-to-day content, as well as campaigns and specific projects, handing social media spend on a monthly basis, and delegating tasks to others within the team.

For nine months, I was seconded to the role of marketing manager, in order to help build the profile of Equator itself. This included project managing the launch of a new website, controlling the social media platforms and overseeing the internal marketing.

Duties included sourcing and writing articles for online marketing and media magazine The Drum, with focus on the social media sector.  

Also responsible for the editorial Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Pinterest accounts, used to promote articles, respond to comments from readers, create campaigns and drive engagement. This role included overseeing content creation, deadlines and managing content flow between marketing, sales, events and editorial. 

In July-August 2012, created and ran The Drum's Fauxlympics campaign, increasing engagement on the Facebook page by over 1000%; and leading to media coverage in the UK, France, America and Australia. 

During my time at The Drum, I also gave a presentation on behalf of the company at a PPA event about the importance of social media to publishers.

I love finding the nuggets of data and information in social media and marketing that lead to 'ah-ha!' moments, creating insights and helping build a better social media output.

As the Head of Research and Insights at Hydrogen, I lead a team that helps clients understand and optimise their social media performance. With over 10 years of experience in social media marketing and strategy, I have a passion for delivering data-driven insights and recommendations that drive results and growth. I personally believe that the role of a social media manager shouldn't end when they hit 'post': if you don't track and analyse to see how content performs, you can never grow.

I am also a Chartered Marketer with the CIM, where I serve as a board member and Communications Ambassador for Scotland. In this role, I collaborate with the Vice Chair to raise awareness and engagement with the Chartered Institute of Marketers in Scotland. I have been recognized as the CIM Communications Ambassador of the Year in 2021 and 2023 for my work in this area.
