The role that became a platform for expression.

Taking over the creative efforts at an agency that was deeply rooted in complex integrations and known for its technological savviness was... a lot.

But I was curious, I loved a challenge, and I saw a gap between the ask and the value we could deliver. It asked for slight restructuring, rebranding, and navigation of 9 - but we made it happen.

🙌 It resulted in a top-performing revenue channel.
🙌 It resulted in the launching of Design Sprints.
🙌 It resulted in a profit increase.

More importantly, it resulted in us re-positioning ourselves as a full-service agency, a place where creativity and commerce meet, with competence and contribution at its core.

Over this period, we launched mid-COVID-19 materials, which led to 3 deals worth over $600k signed in a week, collaborating and partnering with the likes of PayPal, Adobe, and Salesforce, and personally heading tailor-made workshops with target key accounts.

🎯 As I fondly like to remember, that was the moment when we started pushing our brands in new directions, fueling their growth through visual, visionary storytelling.

From nothing... to - my oh my - quite something.

I was always a storyteller.
I loved stacks of books.
I enjoyed the words.

(I adored their power. 🤤)

This role was the first place where my words found a home.

They got me from a small-town adventurer and aspiring dreamer into the role of blog writer who got her work published on the Adobe website, driving the Mobile Optimization Initiative and spearheading the Magento Imagine efforts.

The words spoke through me, and they were loud, and they were clear. They got us leads (over 130 per venture), they got us on the Imagine Excellence awards shortlist, and they got us into rooms where the impact was made.

It was there and then that I realized...

→ I want to keep talking.
→ I want to keep sharing.

Stop letting gratitude shrink your ambition.

This one hits home for so many high performers, especially women.

Because somewhere along the way, you were taught a very confusing message:

Do well… but don’t want more.
Be grateful… but not too hungry.
Grow… but don’t grow “too fast.”

So even after you’ve earned every win sitting on your resume, the noise still creeps in:

→ “Don’t push your luck.”
→ “You should be grateful.”
→ “You already have more than most.”

And that’s where the real tension begins.

Because you are grateful.
You do appreciate how far you’ve come.
You have worked hard for everything you have.

But gratitude doesn’t erase the feeling in your gut that says:

This isn’t your ceiling.

That whisper feels uncomfortable because it bumps up against every expectation you were raised to follow - stay humble, don’t rock the boat, don’t ask for too much.

So you carry the desire quietly.

You downplay it.
You rationalize it.
You shrink it into something more “reasonable.”

But here’s what I see in every badass woman I coach:

Your ambition is your rawest truth.

You’re not trying to impress anyone and you’re definitely not ungrateful for wanting more.

You’re simply trying to grow into the version of yourself you’ve known was possible for years.

And you’re done pretending you’re satisfied with a chapter you’ve already mastered.

Stop ignoring that gut feeling. She knows you better than you think.

For the first few years of my career, I was miserable.

And not because the work was hard.

But because I forced myself into a box that didn’t fit.

Quiet office.
Slow pace.
Predictable.

And for a spicy child turned adult, I felt like I was suffocating.

But I convinced myself to ‘suck it up buttercup’. 

I got to yoga at lunch.
I was making 6-figures.
I never had to take work home.

So I did what so many grateful high performers do:

I adapted.
I ignored the “is this really it?” feeling.
I dimmed the parts of me that felt “too much” for the room.

And pretending who I wasn’t drained me faster than the workload ever could.

There is nothing wrong with you.

Your reality today doesn’t have to be your reality tomorrow.

You’re allowed to choose the environment that matches your current energy. 

You get to choose better.

And you get to make that choice today.

On the trading floor, I learned this fast.

When pressure hits, you have two choices:

React impulsively.
Or respond strategically.

The leaders who advance (and stay respected) choose the second.

The ones who don't often get written off. 

In high-pressure environments, it’s not enough to do good work. 

You also need to show you can stay composed when it matters most.

If you’ve been at this game for as long as I have, you know:

→ Reacting feels good in the moment. But it almost always backfires.

→ Responding feels harder. But it builds your influence and gets you noticed.

If you want to be trusted with bigger opportunities, you need to show you can handle the heat without losing your cool.

Start here:

1️⃣ Own your emotions.

You can’t always control the trigger, but you can control your response.

2️⃣ Slow down the moment.

Breathe. Buy yourself time. Then respond.

3️⃣ Protect your brand.

Your reputation is built one moment at a time. Treat it like the asset it is.

Corporate has a funny way of rewarding the performance of leadership more than the practice of it.

You’ve seen it.

The ones who talk a big game in meetings.
The ones who master optics but ignore outcomes.
The ones who know exactly how to show up when the room is watching.

They’re the ones who get promoted.

Meanwhile, the leaders who are actually building strong teams and delivering real results?

They get told to:
"Be more visible.”
“Be more strategic.”
“Be more confident.”

Raise your hand if you’ve ever heard that. 🙋‍♀️

It feels backwards and honestly, it is.

But it’s also the game.

And here’s the part no one says out loud:

You can be exceptional at your job and still be overlooked if you’re not intentional about how you’re perceived.

That’s not a talent issue.

It’s a visibility issue.
A positioning issue.
A strategy issue.

And you’re not wrong for feeling frustrated by it.

But frustration alone won’t move you forward.

So when I start with a client who’s been battling a similar situation, I ask them to make a choice:

You can fight the system.
Or you can learn how to play it on your terms.

Not by faking it.
Not by becoming someone you’re not.

But by being more deliberate with:

→ How you speak about your impact
→ How you show up in high-value rooms
→ How you shape the story leadership sees

This is my sweet spot.
The part of my program my clients love most.

Because it’s tactical.
It’s high-level.
It works.
