AZ AANHPI for Equity is a non-profit that amplifies AANHPI voices in Arizona, building power through community directed organizing, increasing civic engagement, and empowering young leaders. I was promoted to the role of Voter Engagement Manager in January 2022 because of my exceptional work with the 2021 voter registration campaign. In this role, I manage the voter campaign program— increasing our voter registration and engagement across Arizona.

Selected accomplishments include:

- Created and managed the $300k program budget, allocating funds to areas as needed to ensure the program runs smoothly and retained canvassers.
- Managed and trained canvassers and quality control coordinators as our front-line workers, engaging with the public to get them registered to vote or ensuring the voter registration form is accurately completed.

University of Arizona

The Instructional Technologies team at the University of Arizona services 50,000+ students, staff, and instructors across multiple countries with proactive training and direct support for educational technology tools that can help instructors and students collaborate, create community and practice skills. I was promoted to the Instructional Technology Manager role because of strategic team contribution and quality technical support. As an Instructional Technology Manager, I was responsible for managing a remote team of 7+ full time staff and student workers and their projects to ensure high quality services. I collaborated with multiple departments to plan for webinars and trainings on the tools.

Selected accomplishments include:

- Increased 1:1 customer support booking by 420% with the launch of an appointment system to replace the open office hours, which also increased team efficiency by decreasing emails for time coordination.
- Audited monthly vendor 6-figure invoice to ensure accuracy, saving the institution thousands of inaccurate charges.
- Spearheaded the website redesign in 2 months alongside the visual design team to provide an accessible resource alongside the campus-wide technology adoption in January 2020.
- Increased campus-wide educational technologies (software as a service) usage in a year: PlayPosit had 1100 new instructors and 16,500 new students; VoiceThread had 805 new instructors and 17,276 new students.
- Established a ticketing and project management structure within one software (Monday.com) to organize, collect, and streamline customer support and the team’s projects for future analysis to improve upon productivity.

Instructional Technology Manager

The Blue Chip program offers four years of leadership development experiences, with each year expanding and strengthening your skill sets through new challenges. As an instructor for one of the first-year courses, I was responsible for teaching a leadership, sprinkled with a social justice, curriculum to a class of 25+ students. Beyond the curriculum, I also guided and mentored the students in their education career.

Instructor

The University of Arizona’s Instructional Technologies team services 50,000+ students, staff, and instructors across continents with customer support and training to provide confidence in educational technology (software as a service) usage for teaching, building community, and learning. As an Instructional Technologist, I provided consultation and a safe learning space for our instructors, students, and staff to practice and master the tools needed for their course. In addition, I also collaborated with vendors to develop new functionality to meet the needs of our community.

Selected accomplishments include:

- Created a ticketing and project management system, using Asana, to organize meeting notes, and streamline communication between our team of two to increase efficiency.
- Researched, developed, and managed a semester-long tech pilot with 11 instructors to explore a new product feature and determine whether it would be intuitive for a campus-wide adoption. The data analysis resulted in the product feature being not intuitive for instructors and students and thus was not implemented.
- Led workshops and training to support faculty in learning and adopting new educational technology to increase student success and engagement within their course.

Instructional Technologist

The Blue Chip program offers four years of leadership development experiences, with each year expanding and strengthening your skill sets through new challenges. As a graduate assistant, I supported the program through teaching courses; organizing events for students, alum, and faculty; and guiding student groups to lead and organize.

- Hosted and organized in-person events for 200+ students, alum, and faculty to increase engagement with the program.
- Created and managed the Blue Chip Leaderboard Challenge to motivate first year students’ involvement with the program, increasing engagement by 10% from the previous year.

- Tutored students in English, biology, chemistry, and math to support them in their success and growth, increasing the potential of them going to pursue a higher education.

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Tutor

Roche Tissue Diagnostics, previously known as Ventana Medical Systems, is a leading global supplier of cancer diagnostic systems to the pathology market, revolutionizing cancer diagnostics with state-of-the-art testing automation. After my previous internship, I returned to Roche on a new team as a research intern. In this role, I supported one of the research and development team.

Selected accomplishments include:

- Mastering the usage of Ventana’s Benchmark GX and XT for staining slides automatically while also knowing how to manually stain it to increase efficiency and contribute to the research project.

As a clinical sciences management intern, I supported the quality assurance team to ensure clinical data was accurate.

- Audited research files to confirm accuracy of patient data, ensuring quality and standard for research.

Arizona Science Center serves more than 800,000 students, educators, families and adults annually, through their center and partnership across Arizona. As a STEM Instructor, I piloted an after-school STEM program for them, traveling across Tucson, AZ to teach K-12 students about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The Koshy Lab focuses its research on Toxoplasma gondii, a parasite that infects and persists in warm-blooded hosts, to understand its nature and determine new ways to treat chronic central nervous system toxoplasmosis. As a student researcher, I supported Dr. Koshy and the researchers on data collection.

Selected accomplishments include:

- Co-authored a research publication as a result of the data I collected and quantified about Toxoplasma gondii infection in nucleated cells.

I am project manager with a background in science and education and 4+ years in technology and non-profit management. With my science degree, I have a solid foundation in research and making data-driven decisions. With my education masters, I refined my interpersonal skills—having difficult conversations and breaking down complicated topics. 

Prior to project management, I was a jack-of-all-trades, learning and executing my role on the job. I was a voter engagement manager, optimizing the program budget and planning our outreach. In addition, I worked at a university as a tech manager, leading the team to provide high quality customer support for over 50,000 students, staff, and instructors-- earning us team excellence award. I have also led many volunteer-based nonprofits. All these roles may feel different, but they have one common theme of ensuring the success of the teams, programs, and/or organizations.

As a project manager, I thrive on what I get to do! I turn chaos into structure, leaving a strong foundation of organization. I get the privilege to work with different people, learning their needs and goals, and finding the ways to remove the barriers for them to thrive. And finally, I get to resolve problems as they come up, learning new skills and troubleshooting.
