A year ago, this was just a question on a blank page.

I didn't have the answer then. And honestly, there were many moments over the past twelve months where I wondered if we'd find it.

Singapore Management University has always been a place that moves differently. A city university in the heart of Singapore. Small enough to be nimble, bold enough to try things others hesitate to attempt. A place where ideas are meant to travel beyond the classroom and change something in the real world.

But stories like that do not write themselves.

Our team spent the better part of a year in the thick of it - shaping the narratives behind our new brand campaign. Long conversations. Multiple meetings. Versions of creative concepts I've lost count of. Moments where we'd scrap everything and start over — not because the work was bad, but because it wasn't authentic enough. 

We kept coming back to the same questions.

The answers didn't come quickly. But when they did, everything else followed. The scripts. The visual language. Weekends spent filming the same scenes over and over. The obsession over every single edit. The small decisions that somehow end up mattering most.

A brand campaign is never just marketing.

It's our belief in what SMU is becoming. In the students we're shaping. In the quiet but meaningful difference that education, research, and genuine partnerships can make in the world.

This one took a year. It took a lot of people. And it took more effort than I expected — to keep going until every frame felt true to what we were actually trying to say.

Today, we finally get to share it.

Twelve months. A few minutes of film. A lot of heart poured into every frame.

So proud of my Brand team who showed up every day to bring our new brand campaign to life. And so grateful to everyone across SMU who helped shape - and now share - this story.
