I failed miserably at relaxing over Christmas.

And honestly… I’m not even mad about it.

This is just the reality of running an agency when you’re still involved in strategy and client facing - you never fully switch off.

Adding to this, in January we’re kicking off three major launches:

1. A B2B SaaS product launch

Multi-channel, multi-region, months in the making. Every detail with this matters, and my brain has been running constant checks to make sure nothing slips.

2. Breaking into a new region for a B2B automotive business

Since 2023, we’ve doubled their revenue YoY in one market through ads and content. Now we’re taking that exact strategy, adapting it, and rolling it out somewhere new. Hence… Christmas was spent pressure-testing the launch.

3. Taking over a project from another agency

In November, we stepped in after a lot of budget had been burned with little to show for it. December was spent rebuilding the strategy from the ground up.
Ads, ABM, proper structure. Christmas was spent reviewing data and next steps.

So no, it wasn’t the most relaxing Christmas.

But I'm not complaining.

We’re super excited to get these campaigns moving.

Co-Founder @ Nude | Stripping the boring out of B2B marketing

I spent the weekend reading a lot of LinkedIn posts about agencies getting fired left, right and centre.

Not how I planned to spend my time, but it did get me thinking.

A common take is that B2B companies don’t need strategy anymore because they already have it.

I don’t think that’s true.

What is true is that people are pissed of with strategy that goes nowhere.

Over the past six months, we’ve signed six new clients.

(Not a huge dataset, but enough to see a clear pattern.)

Some came from other agencies and some had never worked with one before.

Different situations but the same frustrations.

They didn't want long, drawn out strategies that never left the deck.

The truth is that strategy that ignores commercial reality, can’t be turned into clear next steps, or doesn’t lead to anything tangible becomes useless very quickly.

So when teams say “we just need execution,” what they’re really saying is: “We need results, and the last strategy failed to deliver them.”

That’s why agencies get fired.

Not because strategy is dead, but because too many agencies hide behind it.
If you can’t take what you’ve learned and turn it into live campaigns, clear decisions, and measurable outcomes, then it isn’t strategy. 

No results means no longevity.

And cutting strategy altogether doesn’t fix the problem.

It just makes results harder, slower, and more expensive to achieve.

That’s the uncomfortable truth.
