2025 is getting weird. I tried to hire a contractor. I ended up hiring their AI. 

Here's the story:

Today, I hired a contractor online. Paid upfront. Standard self-checkout flow.

Then an AI assistant popped up and asked for context on the problem I was trying to solve.

So I gave it the context… and it immediately gave me the exact solution I needed.

I tested it.
It worked.
Problem solved.

Next screen: “Provide additional context so your contractor can begin.”

And I’m sitting there thinking, “Uh… there is no work left to do.”

Here’s the crazy part:

I wasn’t annoyed. I was actually happy to pay—because my problem got solved.

But the whole moment snapped something into focus for me:
➡️ The real value of a services firm isn’t hours or tasks.
➡️ It’s the data—the collective memory of every problem we’ve already solved.
➡️ And AI can increasingly tap into that knowledge and deliver answers instantly.

It made me wonder:

Where are we (as service providers) adding unnecessary friction?

What problems could clients solve themselves if we gave them the right experience, tools, or context?

And how much more valuable would our work become if our “knowledge exhaust” was actually accessible?

This experience felt strange… but also like a preview.

Perhaps a glimpse into how digital services and expertise will be sold in the future.

The human hasn’t even started, and somehow he’s already done. Wild times.
