Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership development. I am serving as Vice President of Membership (VPM) of the UPS corporate club with the following responsibilities:

- Cooperate with the club board and other clubs to enhance our members' experience
- Follow up with guests and encourage them to join future meetings
- Maintain an overview of guests, new members joining, and current members 
- Contribute to the monthly club executive committee meetings
- Helps promote our club together with Vice President of Public Relations
- Provide each new member with orientation of the educational and mentoring programs together with the President and Vice President of Education
- Help guests wishing to join to complete the Application for Membership form
- Regularly engage with fellow club members to ensure that their needs are being met

"I wish my dad heard your story before he died by suicide," she said to me in tears. "He died last week."

I was speaking to a civic organization about leadership and silver linings, and to make my point clear—and to show my insights are based on lived experience, not motivational fluff—I shared my own story. 

After I was done speaking, a woman around my age came up to me, crying. She said her dad died feeling like no one in the world cared about him. It was heartbreaking.

Other members in the audience came up to me as well, saying how relatable my story was, and that they struggled with the same things I struggled with.

There's this idea going around that mental health is an open conversation now. This isn't true. We've barely even scratched the surface as a society and people are still continuing to struggle in silence.
