A bit about me: I am a communication designer turned visual thinking expert. 

As much as I love everything visual, pretty design images or even illustrations aren't the most important. 

The prettiest design doesn't help if your messaging – or your product – is missing the mark.

But it is almost impossible to see how to connect the dots for your business especially if you have many ideas! 

That's where I come in with my pencil. 

I use strategic sketching and a powerful story-driven framework. 

• In a Business Storyboarding session, I ask you questions and sketch while we talk. You'll SEE your client's problems and feelings. A client of mine said: "It is as if you could walk around in their life!"

Hi, I’m Samantha! 👋🏾

I am the proud founder and CEO of SAM Catalysts and an expert Education Strategy Advisor. My gift is in helping all parents become more discerning—to be able to identify their own differentiated strategy so that they can confidently pursue the education they want for their child. I specialize in empowering families of color, for whom the U.S. education system is not designed to serve well.

President Barack Obama once invited me to sit down for a one-on-one conversation about education before introducing him to an audience of 10,000—he now follows me on Twitter.


PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY

Over the course of her 20-year career, Samantha has worked with hundreds of public, charter, parochial, and independent schools across the U.S. and around the globe. She has been an educator, district administrator, charter school board member, policy analyst and researcher, and consultant. 

Samantha has served as a trusted strategist for executive education leaders and has delivered keynotes and presentations at major education conferences and events across the United States, Sydney and London.

Samantha partnered with Angela Duckworth, #1 NY Times Bestselling author of Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance, and other world-class scientists and survey methodologists to develop the Character & Well-being Survey, a survey administered by the Character Lab to track social-emotional learning over time. 

Samantha earned degrees from Duke University and the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. She’s also completed the following programs: Education Policy Fellowship sponsored by the Institute for Educational Leadership, Harvard Strategic Data Project Summer Institute for Leadership in Analytics, and Global Education Entrepreneurship & Innovation at PennGSE. 

Samantha is a member of Baltimore Area Evaluators, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and is the Sanford School of Public Policy Representative on the Duke Baltimore Board of Directors.

Samantha is also a high-performing athlete and coach. She was inducted into her high school’s Hall of Fame and is a now-retired 2x championship winning badminton coach.

When Samantha is not consulting with organizations or coaching parents, she can be found playing backgammon, working on her lobster risotto recipe, or earning Audible badges.
