STOPandGO project

STOPandGO was producing and testing a European Specification Template (EST) for local tenders on care and cure services enhanced by technological solutions for elderly people, according to a regional Action Plan and a national vision.

STOPandGo was a European Project of the VII Framework Program, ICT-PSP, to apply the instrument of Public Procurement for Innovation (PPI), where the Public Administrations were required to use their tenders for three complementary goals:
- increase health and wellness of individuals
- find more sustainable models for service provision
- stimulate the market.

I was leading the Work Packages on Evaluation and on Exploitation.

I began my journey in 1973, when the field was known as "medical informatics."   
    
                 ** nomen omen! **     

Over time, it evolved through various names such as 
  - clinical informatics,
  - healthcare informatics,
  - ICT for health,
  - eHealth,
  - connected health,
  - integrated care enhanced by technologies.

Presently, I refer to it as 
  - health ecosystem transformation.

Now, with over 20 years of experience, I specialize in designing and evaluating national and regional strategies for digital healthcare. 
My focus lies in implementing innovative policies that enable the meaningful utilization of digital technologies, such as eHealth, Telemedicine, mHealth, and home automation.

Throughout my career, I have collaborated with organizations such as the National Research Council, the associations of health authorities (FIASO and Federsanità ANCI) and Confindustria Dispositivi Medici, engaging in various European projects. 
Some notable projects include GALEN, KAVAS, IREP, GALEN-IN-USE, TOMELO, C-CARE, PROREC, WIDENET, EHR-Q-TN, eHealth ERA, RIDE, ANCIEN, STOPandGO, RITMOCORE, and EURIPHI.

In collaboration with AGENAS and FORMEZ, I have provided technical support to regional health managers in Sicily, Campania, and Calabria, emphasizing sustainable approaches to eHealth and modern telemedicine.

During the 1990s, I was actively contributing to the development of international standards for health informatics. 
I played a role in areas such as semantic interoperability, clinical datasets, EHR systems, and Clinical Pathways. 

Additionally, I made significant contributions to the establishment of committees such as CEN/TC251 and ISO/TC215. 
Within HL7, I held positions in the Technical Steering Committee, served as the co-chair of the HL7 Templates SIG, and was a founding member of HL7 Italy.
