Did you know that approximately 5% of undergraduate students in the U.S. are military-connected, including veterans, active-duty service members, reservists, military spouses, dependents, and Gold Star families?

These students face the same challenges as other learners, plus unique obstacles such as navigating military education benefits, staying enrolled during frequent moves or deployments, and earning college credit for military experience.

The Center for Higher Education Policy and Practice (CHEPP) has published a new report, Advancing Access and Success in Higher Education for Military-Connected Learners, which explores these challenges and offers actionable strategies for colleges to better support this important student population.

🔍 New Report Spotlight: Transforming Higher Education with Agentic AI

Deloitte’s new report, Agents of Transformation: Reimagining Higher Education with Agentic AI, outlines a powerful vision for how AI can fundamentally reshape the way universities operate. 

Here are a few key takeaways:

What is Agentic AI?: It’s not just automation or generative AI. Agentic AI systems are proactive. They can sense, reason, initiate tasks, and adapt over time. 

From Reactive to Transformative: While generative AI responds when prompted, agentic AI monitors, anticipates, and coordinates actions across systems. For example, it might detect students who are disengaging, recommend outreach, adjust learning paths, or even trigger office-hour scheduling.

Impact Beyond the Classroom: These agents can automate workflows, predict enrollment trends, and identify at-risk students.

Ethics, Governance & Risk: The report doesn’t shy away from the challenges. It highlights the importance of data quality, strong governance structures, transparency, pilot-based rollout, and continuous evaluation. 

Where to Start: Deloitte recommends thoughtful, phased adoption starting with small pilot projects in high-impact areas (e.g., transcript evaluation, student advising) to build capacity, trust, and measurable success. 

The Urgency Is Real: Higher education is facing enrollment pressures, budget constraints, and the risk of falling behind more agile competitors. Agentic AI isn’t just a nice-to-have; it may define which institutions lead in the next era.
