Last night, 36 people (Top mentors, lead donors, sponsors, and core team members) gathered around one table to mark the launch of phase three with the introduction of the 18Xlerator.

Among our top mentors,  Lt. Gen (res.) Aviv Kohavi stood up to speak. So did Brig. Gen (Res.) Yaron Rosen,  one of our reservist entrepreneurs, Benjamin Shahin, and our 18Xlerator leader Avigail Levine, alongside Noam Bardin, Michal Tsur, Eyal Hertzog, Ori Lahav, Tom Livne and Nicole Priel.

After 7 months of helping reservists learn, ideate, and network, we now have more than 100 startups competing for intensive mentorship. Those who won't get into the 18Xlerator will also be helped in other ways!

Multiple people came up to me separately throughout the evening and said the same thing: "The talent density in this room."

But here's what struck me most: these aren't just successful people. They're kind. generous. They know how to win and yet play fair and graciously.

That's the insight I'm taking forward: Build trust. Always be kind. When someone says no, say thank you and move on. 

There are so many talented, good people out there. Keep improving yourself, and you'll find the ones who say yes. That's when momentum builds. That's when success accelerates.

Before I close, I'd forgot to thank someone at the event. Maya Mina produced this evening. She gave everything to it. Every detail reflected our core value: aspiration to excellence.

זו הייתה מהשיחות האלה שמזכירות לך למה אתה עושה את מה שאתה עושה.
דיברנו על הדרך שכל אחד מאיתנו בחר, הוא דרך האזרחות והמדיניות, ואני דרך היזמות והקהילה. אבל בסוף שנינו מכוונים לאותו מקום: חברה שמרגישה שהמדינה עובדת בשבילה, לא הפוך.

מה שאהבתי במיוחד הוא לראות איך הארגון שלהם, שהתחיל מעולם המדיניות, הבין לאורך השנים שהטכנולוגיה היא לא “תוספת” אלא הכלי שמאפשר להגשים את ההבטחה לאזרחים.

שקיפות, עמידה בהתחייבויות, יכולת למדוד מה באמת קורה- אלה דברים שמחזקים אמון. בלי אמון אין חברה.

אני תמיד אומר שמערכות יחסים טובות לצד אחריות אישית ואומץ, אלה אבני בסיס שבונים בני אדם, וגם בונים מדינה.

כשעולמות כמו שלהם ושלנו נפגשים, נוצר משהו שמזכיר למה יש כאן תקווה.
וזו עבורי אינדיקציה מדהימה שאנחנו בכיוון הנכון. אם אתם פועלים במרחב שבין אזרחות, טכנולוגיה ואנשים, הדלת שלי תמיד פתוחה.

לפני 10 שנים אלון נכנס אלי לראיון כמתמחה ב WeWork הוא היה רק בן 26 אם אני זוכר נכון וכבר נבחר להיות חבר מועצה בעיירית נהריה ועשה מלא דברים.

הוא היה סופר מרשים אבל אמרתי לו "לא".

אלון השתגע, איך אני לא לוקח אותו, ועוד בחינם!

הסברתי שדווקא כי הוא כזה תותח ומוכשר אם אני אקח אותו אשקיע בו והוא יעלם לי מהר וסתם אני אתבאס.

אלון ויתר על האגו שלו ואמר לי שהוא מבטיח לעמוד במילה שלו.

הוא באמת היה נכס צאן ברזל בהקמה של Wework באר שבע עם עוד רבים וטובים מהצוות עובדים ומתמחים והייתה הצלחה גדולה.

כמו שחששתי, דברים טובים התחילו להגיע לאלון ואז הזכרתי לו את ההתחייבות ואלון עמד בה כמו גדול.

מצאנו את עמק השווה והוא בצורה בריאה ומבוקרת הצטרף לצוות של Tech7 Alumni Association  שהתחיל כקהילת הטק של באר שבע והפך להיות מנוע מטורף שהוציא ממנו המון מנהיגים ויוזמות.

אחד החברים מטק7 הפך להיות השותף של אלון והם הקימו סטארטאפ שגם עשה אקזיט חמוד ואחרי כמה שנים אלון עבר ל Fiverr ואחרי שנתיים וחצי של עשייה משמעותיות הוא שוב מזנק למעלה.


למה אני מספר את כל זה?

שמעתי פודקאסט הבוקר (ההחלטה עם Lilach Asher Topilsky) עם יאיר המבורגר (הענו עד כדי צנוע) שאמר ש94% מזל.

לילך התעקשה שזה הוא, עם התגלגלות הפרק ברור כמה שזה יאיר וההחלטות שקיבל.

אני בטוח שאלון היה מצליח כך או כך.

אבל הבחירה שלו לוותר על האגו וההתעקשות, הבנת הבעיה ופתרונה מולי באותו רגע הייתה כנראה עוד רגע קריטי במסע המדליק שעשה ותכלס, הוא רק בהתחלה.

אחרי כמעט שנתיים וחצי מדהימות ב Fiverr, אני חוזר לstartup founder mode ומצטרף ל monday.com המטורפת לבנות משהו חדש ומעניין 🤯 😃 

לכל החברים המדהימים בפייבר, היה לי פשוט כיף לקום כל יום בבוקר ולבוא לעבוד וליצור יחד איתכם, צברתי סיפורים וחוויות בלתי נשכחות - אז ננצל את ההזדמנות לומר תודה ענקית!! 🫶 🫶 🫶

Some startups begin with an idea 💡

Y began with two reservists who came home from Milluim with a deep understanding of the cost of division, and a sense of responsibility to build something better.

For Benjamin Shahin and Reey Yadin, the loss of 913+ soldiers in the two years of fighting post October 7, “reminded us that our time here isn’t guaranteed,” Benjamin shared. “You fight to make this country better for those who can’t, and you don’t waste your time because you never know how much of it you have left.”

At the same time, the two saw how the world reacted, how narratives shifted, and how much responsibility rests on those willing to step forward. That conviction became Y, a platform that uses location-based polling to eliminate bots and help restore trust in public dialogue. 

The Startup grew with the support of the 18X Elite Impact program, where reservists like Benjamin and Reey turned lived experience into entrepreneurial purpose through a 24/7 learning platform, expert mentorship, venture-building support, and access to advisors.

What they built inside 18X became the foundation for the kind of product they wanted to bring into the world.
