The top 5 things I'd do to improve a subscription program with little time.

I'll list them by potential impact for your business:

1. Default to subscribe and save with some simple design changes to make the subscription option more prominent.

Impact: 30-40% opt-in rate (minimum) - more subscribers coming in

2. Upsell to subscriptions in the cart. Simple, straightforward, but effective.

Impact: additional 10% improvement to opt-in rate

3. Make the billing reminder feel like a value reminder than a transaction. Show them why they subscribed in the first place.

Impact: lower monthly churn 10-15%

4. Update the cancel flow with better copy, stronger offers to stay, and a founder video on the splash screen when someone first cancels.

Impact: minimum 10% improvement on your cancel save rate

5. Make the onboarding flow feel educational and welcoming. There are so many questions people have; show them how you're different and how they can be successful with you.

Impact: lower MoM churn by 5-10%

Dose #193: Education, Cross-sells, and Winbacks

With 7 years of experience scaling product design across fintech, e-commerce, ed-tech, and streaming media, I currently lead design strategy for the nCino Analytics business unit within nCino’s global design organization. My background spans IC and design leadership roles across web, iOS, Android, and 10-foot experiences. I have built research operations, strengthened design systems, improved tooling, and helped teams make outcome-based decisions in highly regulated environments. My leadership philosophy centers on putting people first, both the designers I support and the users we serve.

At nCino, I built and now lead a five-person design team within the Analytics business unit while contributing to hiring more than ten designers across the company. I guide product design strategy for a 40 person cross-functional PDE group and partner with product and engineering leaders to define mission, vision, and long-term direction. Together, we have created a people-first culture focused on clarity, growth, psychological safety, and collaborative excellence.

I established research operations globally for nCino, creating the company’s first user research panel in a highly regulated industry. The system supports continuous research at an annual cost of ~75K and enables more than 90 designers and product managers to run studies independently. Since launch, the program has completed over 3,750 user sessions, produced 445 insights across 250 projects, and built a verified participant panel of 310,000 end users. This work improved decision quality, reduced risk, and strengthened customer understanding across the organization.

Earlier in my career, I transitioned from IC to design leader during a period of significant growth at SimpleNexus and later helped integrate its design practice into nCino following the 1.2 billion acquisition. Throughout my work, I have championed human-centered design within complex B2B fintech systems, balancing regulatory requirements with user needs while scaling design systems, workflows, and cross-functional alignment.

Most recently, I led an AI-first transformation across design and research workflows. I introduced Figma Make, v0, and Claude MCP integrations for Dovetail, Figma, and GitHub, and created AI-generated baselines that made prototyping nearly instantaneous. These changes accelerated delivery, improved design quality, and increased clarity across teams. I continue to focus on aligning design outcomes with measurable business impact and building the systems that support sustained excellence.
