Porting is an integral step in providing customers with an outstanding experience. My primary function as a Service Porter was to prepare motorcycles for return to clients after service. Preparation involved washing, waxing and valet delivery of motorcycles to customers. Other duties included maintaining the shop's appearance, retrieving vehicles for mechanics, and generally providing assistance wherever needed.

As a Student Assistant with the Michigan Public Service Commission, my primary responsibility was intake of customer calls, inquiries and complaints. Using Goldmine data input software, I created and updated customer records and notified appropriate divisions. This job required an excellent command of communication and interpersonal skills, as I often dealt with agitated or upset callers. The latter were not a problem for me, as I was usually able to resolve problems in short-order, yielding positive results for all parties involved. 
During my time at the MPSC, I achieved a High Performance rating within the first year, and maintained my rating for all subsequent reviews. Though only a Student Assistant, I was frequently selected to educate or train superiors and new hires in call-center operations.

Contact sourcing has gone through a quiet evolution.

It started with single data tools. You’d run searches, export lists, and work from there.

Then teams began scraping those tools and layering on waterfall enrichment to improve coverage and accuracy. That became the standard workflow for a while.

Now the next step is happening. Waterfall and enrichment platforms are starting to support list origination directly across their data sources, instead of relying on scraped inputs.

That’s how we’re using BetterContact today. We originate lists inside the platform, then decide how and where to activate the data downstream.
