As Chief People Officer, I'm responsible for developing a world-class culture as we 10x our business. This means I get to play with radical, leading-edge concepts such as Remote Work, Unique Ability, EOS, and Best life Coaching.

My expertise spans remote-first organizational design, international expansion, and building self-enabled cultures in distributed environments. I've thoroughly enjoyed scaling global teams - growing Remote.com from 70 to 1000 employees in 80+ countries and GitLab from 75 to 1,300 employees in more than 60 countries, culminating in their successful IPO. 

When I'm not working, I'm hiking with the fam, trying out new plant based recipes, lifting weights, chasing Frenchies around the garden, reading, running or taking my Specialized Gravel bike or Scott Spark 910 29'er for a spin! 🚴🏼‍♀️

Yep, this is not a dream. This is the view from my room. I get to spend a week with Doisters in an actual Châteaux in France 🫶🏻 🇫🇷

Nothing prepared me for how special and meaningful this feels. 

Today is arrival day and all my expectations have been exceeded. 

Adding this here, so I never forget how it feels to be part of a company that cares this much.

If you have been wanting to apply to a company and waiting to perfect your application or CV, don't. Just hit apply immediately and answer application questions authentically and aligned to the role you are applying for. 

Add a short video and bring out your personal energy in one of the questions! Public recording links works super well (like Loom or Supercut).  

Things move so fast on this side of the table. 99% of all companies shut roles down as the sheer volume of applications simply become entirely overwhelming combined with a ton of fake and fraudulent applications. 

I know there are great tools fixing the fake stuff, but there are usually very small teams behind that load internally, so waiting will allow someone else to literally jump through the stages.

Automation gone wrong 🥲 

We created this awesome workflow between our people team shared inbox and Todoist. Every time a request comes through via email, it automatically creates a task in our private People Team Todoist task board. 

I love this automation, it works, I use it daily, it helps triage requests from urgent and important to nice ideas/ long term requests. It also tracks how many requests we are getting; who is assigned to it and helps our tiny mighty team of three, share the entire load. 

Here's where I messed up: 
I sent an invite company wide from the same People Team's email addy's calendar for two events. 
Every time someone accepted or declined the invite, we got a task in Todoist 🫥 😂 . 

Yes, I did that. The person that has been experimenting with automation, integration and scalable people team workflows for more than a decade. 

Please tell me your automation horror stories so we can all laugh together and feel less stupid about it  🤪

Five days of highly productive work, meaningful connection, and so much fun!! 🫶 🇫🇷 🥐

95 teammates. 10 teams. 60+ workshops. 5 days. One château in France for our inaugural Team Connect! 🇫🇷 🥳

This was a first for Doist. Since 2018, we've sent individual teams on their own mini-retreats to collaborate and connect. But so much of what we build depends on cross-team work. So this year, we brought everyone together to see what happens when those conversations that usually get turned into tasks just... happen around the table instead of getting tabled.

Turns out, quite a bit.

Teams spent the week deep diving into AI (a retreat focus), learning from each other, and finding new ways to collaborate. With room for fun, excursions, and snacks. Lots of snacks.

As a fully remote, async-first company, in-person moments are rare and genuinely special. We may be on individual teams, but we're all on team Doist.

Un grand merci to the many Doisters who traveled from around the world to spend time together. Here's to exciting things to come, and to the connections made – within teams and between them.

Rachel Renken joined an AI Leverage session during our Team Connect in France, hosted by Maeg, our Accounting & Finance Analyst (yes a non-engineer). One of the outcomes, was to leverage AI to ship your own website. 

Rachel, being an amazing working mom of two boys, wanted to create something fun and sweet, to show them that work can be fun and creative! 

Well, she nailed it and we all had fun clicking on a bouncy Mr. Pufferfish. 

There are officially many more quirky yet beautiful websites in the world, because of Maeg’s awesome session 🫶🏻✨🌐

Learning through this level of experimentation, is exactly how personal growth evolves.
