As an RA, I served the residents of Benchmark Plaza. Benchmark is an upperclassmen area in which I responsible for building a community of 40 residents. Residents on my floor represented a wide variety of academic and personal interests and brought many gifts to the community. As their RA I worked to provide relevant programming that catered to their needs. Such programs included social justice awareness regarding bullying and unjust treatment of others, resume and job seeking information, sex education, practical life skills such as doing laundry and cooking, and a host of other programs. 

In addition to programmatic duties, I was also responsible for the general safety and well-being of the residents of both Benchmark and our partner area, Shoreline Ridge. To help ensure the safety of our residents, I was part of an on-call duty rotation. During 14 hour shifts, I worked with students to solve policy violations, roommate disagreements, and worked with the professional staff and University Police Department when necessary. In order to help foster a safe community, in terms of physical, cultural, emotional, and personal safety, I worked to build an understanding of privilege and social justice within my communities.

As the NIU Benefit Corporation Legislation Intern, I worked directly with the NIU President and Utah Senator John Valentine to implemented Benefit Corporation Legislation within Utah. Prior to the legislative session, I collected and analyzed data from other states that had also adopted Benefit Corporation legislation, managed the NIU Facebook page to share information with followers regarding NIU and Benefit Corporations.
