This is a bittersweet post to write.

After a lot of reflection, I’ve decided to close Extra Mile early next year.

Building it has been one of the most meaningful chapters of my career and life.
It taught me what it really feels like to build without a brand behind you. 
To sell, deliver, educate, and stand on your own — especially in a market as diverse and demanding as the UAE.

There were proud moments.
There were challenges I didn’t see coming.

And there were lessons I’ll carry for a very long time:
• That credibility is earned one conversation at a time  
• That not every client is the right client  
• And that entrepreneurship forces a level of clarity you can’t get anywhere else

But over the last months, something shifted.
I realised this chapter had done its job.
I had reached the limit of what Extra Mile was meant to teach me — and a new path was quietly taking shape.

So yes, I’m closing Extra Mile.
Not because it didn’t work.
But because my next step requires all of me.

I won’t reveal the details yet.
But it’s a move that blends everything I’ve built so far — sales, marketing, operations — into a role with more impact, more responsibility, and more growth than I’ve had in years.

For now, I simply want to say thank you...

Notable accomplishment: Increased average rebates rates by more than 1% over the year.

This experience gave me a great sense of business from a more global point of view as I had to negotiate national advertisement campaigns for all stores.

FMCG Buyer

The responsibilities included achieving and exceeding sales target and bottom line budgeted figures. I managed 15 peoples from different nationalities. Also responsible for the negotiations with suppliers : national deals and in store promotions.

- Negotiated trade deals, new products listing and promotions.
- Achieved financial targets: turnover, bottom line and staff cost.
- Merchandised products and implemented new concept.
- Managed 15 people staff : assessment and training.
- Negotiated national trade deals and key account agreements.
- Conducted price and market surveys : had to be the cheapest in the local market area.
- Managed stock according to budgeted figures.

Notable accomplishments: Exceeded the bottom line budget by more than 10%, has successfully implemented the new concept of shelving the products, according to Carrefour policy.

This was my first experience as an expatriate. I joined a company where a lot of processes needed to be implemented. I had to adapt to different cultures and ways of working. It remains a fantastic experience which taught me a lot personally and professionally.

This is where I started my career in 1994. I was fascinated by retail. When I was student, I used to work as salesman in Hi-Fi and electronics in a hypermarket to finance my studies. I liked the experience so I decided to enter the industry.
It was a fantastic experience to learn team management, merchandising, budget management among others.

Having spent all my career in the retail industry, I am passionate about helping retailers streamline and digitize their commercial processes with their suppliers.

I have been working in store and in Head Office as negotiator and in IT. These experiences gave me a good knowledge of retail business processes, project management and how IT solutions can help the business.

As a Retail Business Expert at ULiT, I am responsible for implementing ULiT's innovative solution for our clients in the MENA region, prospecting the market for future opportunities, and leading the Dubai office.

Knowing that many retail companies, both in Europe and in the Middle East, still manage their back margin in an Excel spreadsheet, I am convinced there is still a lot to be done to improve this process. With AI invading our lives, this setup makes is no longer sustainable.

Previously, I was the Head of Business Process Digital Transformation at Majid Al Futtaim, where I led the strategic development and deployment of multiple projects using:
- Microsoft 365 platform
- Power BI
- Power Apps
- E-commerce
- Accounts Payable automation.

We notably implemented a supplier portal which streamlined the business the relations between the retailer and their suppliers.

I successfully increased the efficiency, accuracy, and transparency of various business processes, such as supplier management, omnichannel vision, and business intelligence. With my team, I contributed to increase productivity  both in Head Office and in stores.

I have a Master's degree in Information Technology Management and a Master's degree in Business Administration, as well as a certificate in Digital Transformation from MIT Professional Education.
