I am stranded in the USA while my wife and kids are enduring the sounds of war.

Last week was an amazing business week, sharing with colleagues and pushing my business forward here in Miami at iConnections Week. What looked like a closed deal and a long awaited trip back home has now turned into a nightmare.

We all know what is going on. There is no need to explain the geopolitical outlook.

But having a video call with your wife as she shows you a missile flying over your home, where she and your kids are supposed to feel protected, truly breaks your soul.

I never thought there would be a more important moment for a father and a husband to be with his family than to provide protection from the horrible fear of war.

Building a global business has a cost. It takes a toll on the family too. But I never calculated this cost.

I wish a safe return to all the families who are separated today.

Raising capital for your first fund can feel like being chased by a crocodile...It is a run for survival.

Every day I speak to first time fund managers. You are my clients and colleagues, and we usually find a quick way to discuss the challenges of raising capital.

No one wants to be the first check.
It is difficult to get close to family offices.
You are  doing everything from compliance to business development.

And more, of course.

Hey, I am with you. Maybe you have the most difficult job in our industry. 

You have to be a savant, highly analytical pro to run your strategy.

You are required to become a prolific salesperson and networker to develop relationships.

You have even been asked to become a content creator, podcaster, and social media influencer.

And on top of that, you are running with a crocodile chasing you. That crocodile is time.

Time to first close.
Time to reach target AUM.
Time before cash runs out.

You know the pitch works.
You can feel it in the room.
But later does not help when Fund I has a target and a clock.

This is the loop.
Track record waits for size.
Size waits for trust.

Most managers stay stuck here longer than they should.

You do not need more patience.
You need continuity.

A way to keep showing up.
To follow through.

To stay present without forcing it.

Fund II will come.
But it only comes after Fund I closes

If you have $5 Million in AUM you're for real. 

But that's not enough, YOU NEED A PIPELINE.
