In my first year of building a personal brand, I made one mistake that cost me 6 months of growth.

1. Show rejection

Instead of: “Fundraising is tough.”

Write: “I pitched 17 investors in 3 weeks. 16 said no. The 17th said yes, and it changed everything.”

2. Show late nights

Instead of: “We worked hard to launch.”

Write: “At 2:47 am, I hit deploy with shaky hands. By 7 am, our first customer signed up.”

3. Show small wins

Instead of: “We value customer success.”

Write: “A founder DM’d me yesterday: ‘I finally closed my first deal using your tool.’ That one message made the last 6 months worth it.”

Simple. Clear. Memorable.

If you’re not telling micro-stories:

→ Your voice blends in.
→ Your audience forgets you.
→ Your story gets lost in the noise.

Start small. 
Tell the moments that matter.

P.S. What’s one small moment from your journey that shaped how you lead today?

I was shocked when I heard that one of my favourite book authors, Baek Se-hee, the author of I Want to Die But I Want to Eat Tteokbokki, had passed away at 35.

Her books got me through a lot.

I didn’t expect something so simple, short conversations with her therapist, tiny essays, small thoughts to stay with me for so long.

But they did.

She wrote about pain without trying to fix it.

She didn’t rush healing.
She didn’t pretend to be wise.

She just felt it all. 
And made space for us to feel it too.

Whenever my mind felt too loud, I’d reach for her book.
I still do.

→ To feel seen
→ To feel understood
→ To feel a little less alone

She reminded me that storytelling isn’t about big moments.
It’s about the quiet honesty we often keep to ourselves.

And sometimes, that’s enough.
More than enough.

She saved 5 lives through organ donation.
But she’s saved many more with her words.
