New hires closing six-figure deals.

Cloudsmith is built in Belfast, Northern Ireland 

A proper engineering city.

$50M+ raised from Tier 1 investors, which is great, but thats not the story.

Growth. Adoption. Retention. Expansion.
That’s the signal.
That is blowing up.

And it reinforced something I believe deeply:

To build something beautiful, a few things have to align.

A killer sales team is useless without a best-in-class product.
A great product stalls without a world-class sales team.
And none of it scales without phenomenal marketing to articulate the story and create demand.

You don’t get to pick one.
You don’t even get to pick two.

Sales. Product. Marketing. 
All three. At the same time. At a high bar.

That’s what struck me most this week.

Cloudsmith has all three and they genuinely reinforce each other.

Incredibly proud to be building with this team.

I hate it when people start a new job, tell you how amazing the company is, and then say they’re hiring.


So I won’t do that.

I won’t talk about:

The inbound lead flow
The seven-figure deals
A mind-blowingly good product
The eight-person SDR team supporting sales
An amazing marketing team driving real demand
The 15-year-old legacy competitors
Being remote-first
A highly competitive package
Tier-1 investors
Or being ahead of every metric you’d expect for a Series B company

My approach is bold & unconventional. I take traditional prospecting myths and turn them on the head – this is what makes my approach highly effective.

My commute is 40 steps.

Out of the house, across the garden, into a small outbuilding where work happens (and then politely stays put).

It sounds like a convenience perk, but isn’t really.
It’s a design choice.

For a long time, I believed the usual story that running a business meant being permanently switched on, availability equaled commitment.

Balance was something you earned later (if at all).

Turns out that was all nonsense.

These days, I start at 9am and finish at 5pm.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I’m doing less, but this time… I’m doing it properly.

When work has boundaries, it becomes sharper.

Decisions get faster, and your energy stops leaking into evenings and weekends under the banner of ‘just one more thing’.

Working from home doesn’t mean always being on.
I’m just way more deliberate about when I am actually on.

Those 40 steps mark a boundary.
On one side: focus, clients, decisions.
On the other: life, rest, and the headspace that makes tomorrow’s work better.

I’ve learned the hard way that freedom doesn’t mean you never work. It means you designed a life where work fits in with how you actually want to live.

And sometimes that starts with a very short walk.
