My wife and I took on a church when we were living in Auckland which we then pastored for a number of years. I had been looking to get more involved in Digital Business and hadn't planned on pastoring a church. The existing leaders at the time stepped down and we found ourselves with a group of over 100 people who wanted to see the church continue. The focus of the church was to help people Encounter God, Find Community, Discover Purpose and Make a Difference. 

There's a bit of a story involved but in short, we took things on and journeyed together. You never know where life will take you and this has been another chapter to our story that we are very grateful for. 

Part of stepping back into business was that we felt we were to care for people for a season and then transition to new leaders. 

For me the desire to work with people in business remained. Working out that transition of an organisation and moving into this new season has been one of the most challenging and rewarding in my life. 

I've learned a lot about big seasons, identity, courage and purpose. Many more lessons to be learned & if you're in a season of change....keep going, and have good people around you. :)

In 2020, I launched my first business and focused solely on LinkedIn to get clients. I dedicated hundreds of hours to optimising my profile, content, connections, DMs, and webinars to grow the business.

I landed clients within weeks BUT....I was trying a bit of everything. 

- Connections when I thought about it 
- Posts when I felt inspired 
- Lots of DMs without a strategy 
- Relying on inspiration and effort 

I needed to turn it into a repeatable system.

So I started refining my systems and processes to focus on the 20% that gets 80% of the results. 

And it worked. Others started asking how I was doing it.

I was the girl, born to be seen. Told to keep my secrets.

The quirky kid, the fat kid, the loud kid, the head-in-the-clouds kid, the always out-of-step kid. the beat-of-my-own-drum kid.

My self betrayed me.
It sang harmony over melody. Blending in. Standing out.
Fighting to piece together the lyrics beating inside my chest.
Wanting someone to SEE ME.

I sang out my song and was choked. Hands around my throat.
The out-of-rhythm heartbeat. The chorus of my x generation.
The hook of my gender.

So, I blended. Anything to anyone. BUT nothing to everyone

The star's understudy, I sang the melodies of others.
It fell flat. The reaction? SHARP.

Broken I walked away, and I let all music die

SILENCE.

In the quiet, I heard it.
A new song. A strong song. A song that was mine

I wrote it down.
I built my own stage.
I walked to the centre
I opened my mouth
And I SANG.
