I’m Gloria Tabi, Organisational Justice Specialist, TEDx Speaker, and author of Inclusive Teams and Workplaces, and ENOUGH: How One Woman’s Truth Became a Roadmap for Change.

For years, I wore wigs to work, hiding the hair I was born with to fit into workplaces that weren’t built for me. I know what it feels like to shrink yourself to survive. Now, I help others stop shrinking.

Through my one-on-one coaching, I guide women, especially Black and culturally diverse women, who feel stuck in their careers to use their truth as a strategy. No more wasting money on wigs or dimming your brilliance to be seen as “enough.”

Hello, I'm Leanne Elich, a Behavioural Economist and Neuroscientist. Also known as a Leadership Advisor, Speaker, and unapologetic brain enthusiast. Did you know... that the “returnless return” does more than save on shipping costs? It activates reciprocity and customers are 2x more likely to buy again.

Instead of asking customers to return low-value items, some brands refund them and say, “Keep it or donate it.” No proof. No friction. Just generosity.

In nine experiments (University of Notre Dame, April 2025), these “returnless returns” led to:
🔸  +24.6% higher ratings
🔸  +30.1% more positive reviews
🔸  +30% higher perceived value and +13% more positive word of mouth
🔸  Brands were seen as 16% warmer

Why it works 🧠
We judge brands like people, on competence and warmth. When a brand gives without expecting anything in return, it triggers reciprocity and shifts the relationship from transactional to emotional. Warmer brands are liked more, trusted more, and chosen more often.

The effect strengthens when it’s framed as convenience or environmental care, and when customers are encouraged to donate. It weakens when you ask for proof.

Strategic generosity is not a cost. It is a growth lever.

🔹 Visual Contrast: Desaturated the main image.
🔹 Single Action: Made the secondary action button less salient (e.g., transparent button).
🔹 Arrows: Be careful with images of people. Humans instinctively grab attention, so they can steal attention away from a CTA.
🔹 Hide Exit Links: Removed any header and footer links in a funnel sequence.
🔹 CTA on the Right: Most people are right-handed, so they prefer interacting with elements on the right side.

Have you ever typed “!” in an email, then deleted it because it felt… unprofessional? Here’s the twist. In the right context, that tiny mark makes you look warmer, friendlier, and more likable, with very little downside.

Research across five experiments and 2,000+ participants shows that when the topic is relational (think scheduling a call or following up), senders who used exclamation points were perceived as up to 21.3% warmer and 13.5% more positive.

Why it works 🧠
We read exclamation points the way we hear enthusiasm in speech. They signal emotion and sincerity. That lifts warmth and likeability. It also reduces perceived formality and assertiveness, which you don't want when setting deadlines or explaining data.

Punctuation is a psychological lever. Pull it when the goal is connection. Park it when the goal is control. Used well, you will be seen as warmer and just as competent.
