I’ve spent over four decades building, leading, and scaling distribution businesses in test and measurement.

My career includes founding mmWave Technologies in 1991, serving as President of Anritsu Electronics Canada, and building Gap Wireless from a startup to a multimillion-dollar distributor. Gap Wireless was acquired in 2022, after which I led Canadian operations for NWS through the end of 2024.

Today, I am President of ProgUSA, a U.S.-based distributor serving power utilities and service firms with electrical test and measurement equipment. The business focuses on substation, transmission, and distribution applications, supported by a service and calibration center, and a technical support team.

I’ve spent years in the field and in leadership roles, working with manufacturers, customers, and technical teams. My focus is practical execution, strong relationships, and building durable businesses that customers trust.

I’m also the author of Never Sit in the Lobby, a practical book on sales execution, and I regularly share lessons learned through speaking and podcast appearances.

I welcome conversations with utility professionals, manufacturers, and teams focused on long-term growth in the power sector.

I’m 22, here are 3 networking tips I learnt in under 2 mins-

Save this post, and let's dive right into it-

Number 1: Be clear with your intent-Networking without intent isn’t networking. It’s rushed conversations.

Number 2: The 48 hour Impact window- Reach out within 48 hours of interacting with someone- It usually helps in recall, since it’s still recent!:)

Number 3: Mini cliffhangers in conversations- If you’re nervous about following up online, mini cliffhanger in conversations are genius! 

Essentially, it’s saying I’ll love to share more about this post our conversation, leaving room for a follow up :) Someone recently did this when they were talking to me and it was simple yet powerful.

And yes, remember networking isn’t a task, it’s building genuine connections, so be as intentional and genuine as possible :)

“We started it for my daughter”, he said in his pitch,
And it stayed with me.

Just watched Guugly Wuugly’s pitch in Shark Tank India - and it was a lesson in perseverance, conviction and so much honesty!

Standing beside him was someone much smaller-his daughter, quietly present in the room.

The pitch was honest.
The questions were tough.
But the “why”, the journey and the founder’s conviction made it deeply heartfelt.

While the pitch didn’t end in funding, the Sharks suggestion to connect later, for mentorship and guidance beyond funding was a hopeful end!

The new season of Shark Tank India is now live, and stories like these are a powerful reminder of why the platform exists.

To make space for honest journeys, the ups, the downs and everything in between.

To celebrate intent, effort, and perseverance and how founders genuinely put so much on the line.

What an experience! 🙌🏻

I was recently in Ahmedabad for an event and what an experience it was!

Through my speaker session, we talked about everything from personal branding to networking for students and more.

The session ended with some lovely interactions, thoughtful questions and in-depth conversations on growth, building a strong network and how one can get started!

3 important takeaways from the session & the conversations I had :) -

📌 Many people are confused about finding the right niche for themselves, trust me your niche doesn’t have to be restricted to one thing- It can be 2-3 topics, being shared through your POV!

📌 Cold DMs still work, but you need to be intentional, respectful and crisp.

📌 Networking is still an underrated skill, one that we must develop intentionally, keeping its true meaning in mind :)

Almost all my closest friends were outstation students.
And while I didn’t move cities, I watched it shape the people I love.

Because the first thing independence teaches you isn’t freedom.

It’s responsibility. Responsibility of your time, health, and energy.

And while I stayed back, I watched their version of adulting unfold from the outside.

Late-night calls where they sounded exhausted.
Messages about back pains, long hours and never ending chores.

Jokes about skipping workouts because “there’s no decent gym nearby anyway.”

Independence looked exciting on the surface.
But underneath, it was messy and tiring.

Recently, during a catch-up with a friend, we laughed about those early days when health was always postponed.
How routines disappeared, and how living arrangements quietly dictated well-being.

That conversation made one thing clear:
Adulting feels harder when your living space doesn’t support you.

When food is uncertain,
when safety is a constant concern,
when staying active feels inconvenient, everything else starts slipping too.

But the story is different for one of my friends who stays at a Stanza Living property. And they are a support system that provides something very important when you're in an unknown city - convenience.

A space designed around everyday realities. Nutritious meals, laundry, security, seamless app-based management. Everything predictable. On time. Reliable.

And a gym that makes taking care of your health feel normal, not optional.
Not luxury.
Just thoughtfulness.

Because when the basics are handled, you finally get mental space to focus on studies, work, friendships, and yourself.

Sometimes, the difference between surviving a new city and settling into it
is having a place that quietly supports you.

Adulting doesn’t need to feel lonely.
Sometimes, it just needs the right place to call home.

Having been a part of 100+ events, here's the trick l've learnt about networking-

✨Follow the "QCBC" format ✨

Something I created to plan my conversations better!

Want to know what that means?
1. "Q"- Question- Ask open ended yet insightful questions to understand the person's work and interest areas.

2. "C"- Common areas- Understand where you find similarities with them! It can be in the areas they work in, areas they are interested in, journey, challenges they faced, anything simple yet meaningful!

3. "B"- Build the conversation- Once you know the common areas where you align and can potentially collaborate on, build the conversation in that way.

Please be as real and authentic as possible- Having meaningful conversations is what matters!:)

4. "C"- Conclusion- Always end the conversation on a strong and inspiring note- Leaves a powerful first impression!
