I had the opportunity to host the Creator Simulator Workshop at the Ad Age NextGen Marketing Summit, and honestly, it was a bit of a full circle moment for me.

Getting to stand in a room full of marketers, brand leaders, and industry operators and walk through how creators actually think about content, briefs, and partnerships felt like a dream come true. For years I’ve lived on both sides of this ecosystem…as a creator working with brands and as someone helping companies better understand how to collaborate with creators in ways that actually work.

The goal of the workshop was simple… how can we help marketers experience what it feels like to be on the creator side of the brief? Together we unpacked why so many campaigns struggle before the content is even made, what makes a brief “creator-first,” and how brands can design partnerships that allow creators to bring their real voice, audience understanding, and storytelling to the table.

What made the session so special was the energy in the room. People weren’t just listening to me speak on stage; we had everyone step into the mindset of a creator and rewrite the brief that way. Watching that shift happen in real time is exactly why I love doing this work.

I don't think I believe in creative blocks anymore...

I believe in mental blocks that keep us comfortable.

AI doesn’t replace creators...it exposes the ones who were hiding behind “busy.”

And look I used to be one of them. I would spend hours editing, drafting, creating idea lists to execute on. 

If you’re serious about scale, you don’t need more ideas, I can guarantee you that you just need less drag between idea and execution.

Since fine tuning how I use AI, I have found ways to get first cuts/drafts in under an hour, and my team and I refine it. All of the creativity is still mine and the strategy is fueled by HUMANS before ever pressing POST.

I believe that speed is a strategy and I’m not slowing down anytime soon!

Business Insider Feature: How 3 solo founders use AI

Speaking at the Ad Age Next Gen Marketing Summit 
was one of those moments where you walk off stage thinking, "Wow, that room really showed up." Instead of a traditional presentation, I structured the session more like a workshop. We discussed how creators approach campaigns and why the best marketing happens when brands understand the creative process behind the content they commission.

To bring that to life, I shared three partnership examples I’ve created with Adobe Acrobat, highlighting PDF Spaces and AI Assistant. When I’m preparing a talk, reviewing campaign materials, or using Generate Presentation to shape a creative treatment, I’m typically working across a stack of documents including research, inspiration links, brand guidelines, notes to self, and multiple drafts. PDF Spaces brings all of that into one organized hub, making it easier to structure ideas, connect insights, and move from concept to execution without constantly switching between tabs. AI Assistant helps me quickly extract key takeaways, summarize information, and refine messaging so I can stay focused on the creative direction rather than getting buried in the details.

We used that same approach live during the session. I challenged the room to think like creators by building a campaign brief from scratch, with Acrobat at the center of the process. Instead of starting with slides, we started with the information, thinking about the persona of the person who would USE this product and how they could create a piece of content about it, and then created a content brief that the creators could actually run with.

The energy in the room was incredible. People threw out some incredible ideas, challenged assumptions, and thought outside the box about how brands and creators can collaborate better. And it just left me thinking of how incredible the teams involved in this opportunity were and how eager they were to allow me to curate and lead a session that felt more like a conversation than a lecture. Over the years, I have developed the muscle of Public Speaking at conferences, at universities, and I local events. And the one thing that always comes up is, how do you beat the nerves? And to be fully honest aside from not really getting nerves… I literally just remind myself that I was asked to be in the room for a reason and people are specifically inviting me to be on stage so that they can hear me speak and share insights with them. Why would I be nervous?

Yes, you read that right.

Today was one of those days that made me pause and realize how much life has changed since I was a college student trying to figure everything out, especially during March 2020 when the world shut down. My morning started at 5:35 a.m., and for reasons I may never fully understand, I decided to boldly drive into Manhattan during rush hour. (Remind me never to do that again.) The destination, though, was worth it. 

I showed up to NYU School of Professional Studies to speak in Michael Kaye’s class and workshop with students on creative brand campaigns and influencer strategy, at the ripe time of 8:15am (kudos to the full class for being there AND bringing the energy that early). What was most fascinating was the class environment and how my own four-year BFA shaped the way I think about creativity. At the time, I didn’t know exactly where it would lead, but those years of learning how to think visually, conceptually, and strategically have paid off in ways I couldn’t have predicted. Now I find myself back in classrooms, not as the student, but as someone invited to help mentor the next generation of creative thinkers.

What has been especially striking in these workshops is how quickly the landscape is evolving. This is now the third class I’ve participated in where students are tasked with developing influencer or PR campaigns for real products based on cultural moments and trends. The difference today is that generative AI tools like Firefly, Sora and Gemini are now part of their everyday homework. Students can move from idea to visual concept almost instantly, generating campaign assets and exploring directions far faster than we ever could when I was a student.

It was honestly a little shocking to watch. The speed at which ideas can now be tested and visualized is something I never had access to as a student; we had to do it the old-fashioned way by using vectors, photography, mockups, and warping. At the same time, it raises important questions about how creative thinking, originality, and strategy evolve when the tools become this powerful.

More than anything, though, it’s a privilege to be invited into these classrooms and workshop ideas with students who are just beginning their careers. Their curiosity, ambition, and willingness to experiment with new tools is inspiring, and it reminds me how important it is to stay open to learning no matter where you are in your journey.

Creators don’t struggle to build newsletters because they lack discipline. They struggle because they misunderstand the format. Over the past three years, I’ve grown a newsletter to 5K+ subscribers, and I’ll be honest…consistency was not my superpower. 

I did not publish perfectly every week, I literally only have produced 11 pieces, and I did not always follow a rigid cadence. What I focused on instead was value. Every time I showed up, I aimed to say something that felt worth opening, worth reading, and worth staying subscribed for.

A newsletter is not just a longer Instagram caption. It is not a repurposed thread or a highlight reel of what you already posted. It is a space for depth. It is where you slow down, think clearly, and articulate your perspective without racing the algorithm. Readers subscribe because they want insight, not noise.

Many creators are incredibly strong at short-form content. They know how to hook attention, ride trends, and communicate quickly. But long-form requires a different muscle. It requires clarity of thought, structure, and the willingness to expand on an idea instead of condensing it. It also requires patience, because the feedback loop is quieter.

There are no viral spikes in your inbox, instant dopamine hits, it’s focusing on building tryst over time and that is exactly why it works.

A newsletter creates ownership, intimacy and gives you a direct relationship with your audience that is not dependent on platform changes or shifting algorithms. It becomes an asset instead of just a distribution channel.

If you want sustainability as a creator, you need to practice long-form. Not because you need to post more, but because you need to think more deeply. Short-form captures attention, while long-form and written content builds trust. And trust is what compounds into real opportunities!
