A lot of people ask me where community capital is really going in Europe…

So let me answer it in a very concrete way!

In 2026, Over Ventures will work to help companies raise more than €20M through community-based fundraising (trying to over double the 2025 result).

Not as a slogan… As the sum of many well-designed, well-timed operations!

After 2025, one thing is clear:
this is no longer an “alternative” channel or a nice add-on for marketing. It has become a structural part of how early and growth-stage companies raise capital.

What we’re seeing on the ground is interesting:

– Founders use the community to validate, accelerate and de-risk rounds.
– VCs increasingly accept and sometimes expect a retail or community leg.
– Platforms are evolving from marketplaces into real fintech infrastructure.

And most importantly, the crowd is no longer just capital… It’s signal.

That’s why this year isn’t about chasing volume. It’s about proving again that community capital can be:

Most startups still do the same thing when they raise capital…

They plan and try to allocate equity just to #VC investors and Angels.

Rarely they plan allocate equity to the people who actually use, love, and validate their product every day.

That model worked… of course!
But it’s no longer the only one that makes sense.

There’s a growing middle ground that more #founders are starting to explore:
keep the institutional round intact, but intentionally carve out a small allocation for the #community.

Not instead of VCs but alongside them.

Because a 5-10% community allocation doesn’t weaken a round. In many cases, it strengthens it.

It turns customers into long-term believers.
It creates alignment instead of pure consumption. It adds distribution, advocacy, and resilience that doesn’t show up in a term sheet but absolutely shows up in execution.

From what I see across Europe and the US, this isn’t about “democratising” for ideology’s sake. It’s about building stronger companies.

VCs bring capital, structure, and governance.
Communities bring signal, adoption, and trust.

When those two things work together, companies don’t just raise money faster
they scale with more conviction.

The question for founders is no longer “VC or crowd?” It’s “where does the community fit in the round?”

And that’s a much more interesting question to ask in 2026!

Last week European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) published its Market Report “Crowdfunding in the EU 2025”.

For those less familiar with it, ESMA (European Securities and Markets Authority) is the EU authority responsible for supervising and monitoring financial markets, including #crowdfunding platforms operating under the ECSPR regulation.

Important clarification on the data:
Despite the “2025” title, the report is entirely based on 2024 market data, collected from national regulators across the EU.

Some key takeaways from ESMA:
	•	€4.25bn raised via regulated crowdfunding in the EU in 2024
	•	Market still largely loan-based, not equity-driven
	•	Retail investors dominate (≈88%)
	•	Strong geographic concentration: 5 countries = 80%+ of volumes
	•	Limited cross-border capital flows

It’s a solid, institutional snapshot of where EU crowdfunding stands today.

That said, this is where the perspective differs from what we do at Over Ventures.

📌 ESMA looks at crowdfunding as a regulated market segment.
📌 ECCL our report (European Community Capital Landscape) looks at community capital as an evolving capital formation ecosystem.

ECCL goes beyond:
	•	equity crowdfunding only
	•	regulated platforms only
	•	no real estate and renewables 

It includes:
	•	hybrid models (club deals, co-investments, secondary transactions)
	•	exits, write-offs, and real liquidity signals
	•	founder, investor, and platform behavior
	•	forward-looking trends, not just backward-looking reporting

The European Community Capital Landscape 2025 (ECCL) will be officially presented on 19 February 2026 in Milan, together with Italian Tech Alliance and Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini as the starting point of the ECCL European Roadshow.

Allora visto che tutti parlano del figlio del Vecchio, vorrei chiarire una cosa.

Se erediti i soldi del papà non sei un imprenditore, sei un figlio di papà.

La qual cosa non è colpa tua, assolutamente no.

Sei un privilegiato, quello si. Poi sta a te decidere cosa vuoi fare con quei soldi.

Non so se lo sapete, ma le 2 sorelle Bruni provengono da una famiglia ricchissima. La sorella Valeria ha fatto un film autobiografico "E' piu facile che un cammello..."

Ad un certo punto il papà Bruni muore. Le sorelle vanno dal notaio che apre il testamento e il notaio dice "vostro padre vi ha lasciato 10 miliardi". All'epoca era una gran bella sommetta. Passa qualche secondo e Valeria chiede: "ma parliamo di lire o di franchi?" "Di franchi, signora".

Considerate che il cambio stava a 1 a 300....

A questo punto scattava la domanda: "ma noi con questi soldi cosa facciamo?"

Il notaio, con una calcolatrice: "allora potete spendere 1 milione al giorno per tutta la vostra vita, oppure potete andare in Congo, aprire un ospedale e guarire 1 milione di persone".

Ecco, non sono i soldi che fanno di te un imprenditore, un figlio di papà, o un santo.

E' quello che fai con quei soldi che ti definisce.

ps per i pochi che non lo sapessero, il papà del vecchio era un martinitt....

Venerdi scorso qui su LinkedIn con 2 post ho sfiorato le 400mila visualizzazioni.

Nessun ragionamento su a quale orario postare, nessuna AI.

Anzi, 2 post pubblicati a distanza di mezz'ora.

Pensiero, scrittura, post. Punto.

Quindi? Quindi, anche qui, alla fine basta essere veri. Perché qui di verità ce n'è veramente poca, se togli leccate o tentativi di vendita.

Ma alla fine la gente vuole la verità, vuole la vita vera. E se c'è lo percepisce.

A questo punto mi rimane solo da aprire un podcast e un canale YouTube....magari sento Fedez!

Da quando abbiamo lanciato MySocialCollection penso che abbiamo visto entrare e uscire dal progetto una trentina di persone.

Non è poco.

Poi ci sono quelli che sono li da sempre, a mio fianco, Sebastiano Turci e Gianluca Curioni, per esempio.

Una cosa che ho capito da questa esperienza  è che le personesi dividono un 2 gruppi. 

Ci sono quelli che vivono "qui e adesso", sono nel presente, sono focalizzati, anche giustamente, sulle bollette, come dico io. Sono persone che vogliono fatturare, che hanno anche magari una visione ma in quella visione non cìè spazio per il lungo, che diventa un susseguirsi di momenti. Per queste persone la strategia è un continuo rinnovarsi di tattiche.

Se ci pensate, quante persone conoscete che ragionano cosi nelle aziende? Penso tantissime. Direi la quasi totalità.

Detto questo, poi ci sono le persone opposte. Quelle che hanno una visione, una strategia e non una tattica. Che sono coerenti.

E  queste sono pochissime.

Se volete creare qualcosa, cercate quelli che stanno nel secondo gruppo, e sappiate che solo il tempo permette di separare la crusca dal grano...

Lo so che può suonare divisivo. Ma penso che non vada interpretato letteralmente.

Penso che ci si debba focalizzare sulla prima frase.

Quanti hanno la possibilità di fare quello che amano nella vita?

Potere fare quello che si ama è una gioia cosi grande da rendere il fardello del lavoro (laborare vuol dire soffrire) cosi leggero da rendere il compenso una gratificazione, e non una compensazione.

Allora come sapete reputo giusto dare indietro (give back), nel bene e nel male.

Per questo motivo ho deciso di condividere anche i profili che trovo interessanti su questa piattaforma.

Inizio con Mattia Marangon

Devo dire che il vecchio legolize diventato poi ugolize (qualcuno si è arrabbiato?) non mi è mai piaciuto. Questione di gusti, per carità, ma questo gusto della battuta non mi fa impazzire.

Detto questo, invece Mattia è stato una sorpresa, almeno da quando ha preso a pubblicare i SUOI contenuti.

Posizioni ferme e decise, anche etiche come interessa a me, consiglia anche un sacco di approfondimenti interessanti sul mondo digital/social.

Per cui, per me Mattia Marangon è un si!

Bella soddisfazione, devo dire.
