11 years ago, I started my real estate journey.

My first mentor was doing around 30 homes a year.
Real deals. Real numbers. No theory.

What caught my attention wasn’t the houses.

Yesterday the Federal Reserve held rates steady and highlighted continued strength in the economy.

A stabilizing job market and stubborn inflation mean policymakers are not in a hurry to cut.

Markets were already expecting no move before June, and this decision confirms that outlook.

Rate cuts may still come later this year.
But for now, we are still in a higher for longer rate environment.

Over the years, I funded a large number of government backed loans through SBA for business owners across many industries.

SBA financing has helped countless entrepreneurs grow, buy property, and expand operations.

But the lending environment started changing fast.

Starting June 2025, we began shifting more of our focus toward private funding.

By October, private money was already becoming our main focus.

Faster decisions.
Asset based lending.
Less red tape.

Now, starting January 2026, about 70 percent of the loans we close are through private funding.

This shift has been critical for our clients.

Investors and business owners who need speed and flexibility are still getting deals done.
Others are stuck waiting on longer processes and tighter guidelines.

As business owners, we have to adapt.
We have to recognize trends early.
We have to move before the market forces us to.

Every single week in our company meetings, we ask
Where are we in the ecosystem
Where is the market going
What do we know now
What do we need to start paying attention to

That simple discipline changes everything.

I believe every business owner should go through this exercise at least once a month, or at minimum once a quarter.

Markets change.
Rules change.
Opportunities shift.

The winners are the ones who adjust their strategy, not the ones who wait for things to go back to how they used to be.

Your bank is closed.
Private money is open.

Banks sell patience.
Private money sells speed.

Faster decisions.

What if I told you we've been looking at AI through too narrow a lens?

This year at CES, NVIDIA's Jensen Huang highlighted something I've been thinking about for months:

2026 will be the year physical AI breaks through. 

But here's where most people are making MISTAKES in understanding this shift:

They're thinking robots. 
They're thinking manufacturing.

This isn't wrong, but that's missing the bigger picture.

Physical AI isn't just about machines that move.

It's really about AI that interacts with our physical world in ways we haven't imagined yet:

This is a thought provoking exchange.

We don't talk about today's 'digital labor', but that is a real thing.

Today, you don't need a lift operator to ride in an elevator. The machine handles that labor, but no one talks about those changes because almost no one can remember the time when an elevator required an operator to function. 

I keep going back to the idea that we are repeating the shift that happened at the beginning of the PC era when people began having access to computers.

Today, much of the digital revolution is founded upon the ways that we 'played' with PCs. 

I remember when I was a kid, getting the PC game to work was how I learned to (at first break, and then fix) configure, upgrade and manage computers.

I'm not certain about the age of abundance (we still have to build datacenters), but I do think that if we use the power of our imagination in the right way, we can bring positive change through the use of these great new tools.

What’s the real blocker to AI success? 

It’s no longer about access, now that everyone has the tools. Today’s barrier is imagination. In the age of resource abundance, we need to think bigger.
