I proudly took part of UBC's "Start an Evolution" campaign (https://startanevolution.ubc.ca/), campaign which raised $1.5 billion dollars for students, research and community engagement and to double the number of alumni involved annually in the life of the university by 2015.

• Established and led an award winning Data Governance/Quality Program to support the university’s $1.5 billion fundraising campaign and sustainable alumni engagement strategy

Your employees need to understand some pretty confusing terms.

When you're teaching Artificial Intelligence, clarity trumps persuasion.  I can confirm this from teaching and consulting over four decades.  But don't just listen to me.

Several studies confirm that simplicity and clarity will almost always outweigh your efforts to be "clever."   You're going fo find this from a bunch of sources from Reflection Sciences to the National Institues of health.

You're going to get a bunch of benefits, such as:
- Reduced cognitive load
- Better engagement from your employees
- Ultimately, better implementation

If you need a good example, Brij Kishore Pandey created a whiteboard infographic.  From where I sit, he really brings clarity to the "madness" of why NO ONE in my field can give ANYTHING a normal name.

So here we go.

Generative AI- A prompt goes to a model, which generates a result, such as text, video, or an image.

AI Agents- A goal is established, enabled by a set of code (the "agent"), which utilizes tools to create a final output.

Agentic AI- A process of establishing an objective, which may use one or more sub-agents, leveraging tools and memory, to create a final output.

Make sure your getting the results you need.

Your #AI #Training Might Seem Impenetrable...

...but there is a parallel that offers hope-  ⚛️ #QUANTUM!

Professor Ramamurti Shankar knows how to set the stage for teaching Quantum Mechanics, which is substantially harder to learn than #ArtificialIntelligence.  Here's how he opens his first lecture of the course:

"So this is a very exciting day for me becuase today we're going to start quantum mechanics and that's all we'll do until the end of the term.  Now I've got bad news and I've got good news.

The bad news is that it's a subject that's kind of hard to follow intuitively.  And the good news is that NOBODY can follow it intuitively.  Richard Feynman, one of the big figures in physics, used to say no one understands quantum mechanics.

So, in some sense, the pressure is off for you guys!  Because I don't get it, and you don't get it, and Feynman doesn't get it!  The point is here's my goal- Right now, I am the only one who doesn't understand quantum mechanics.  In about seven days, all of you will be unable to understand quantum mechanics.  Then you can go back to spread your ignorance everywhere else."  😁 

So what's the point for us?  

It isn't that Artificial Intelligence is impenetrable- quite the opposite.  It's that getting learners to stop panicking on the topic is truly important, and we as educators need to address!
