My 3 months were spent putting together an internship program and talent acquisition, identifying top interns, and recruiting them to join Monument Hotel 5G*.

I have served as an Executive, Business Owner, Veteran & Advocate, Board Member, Non-Profit Administrator, Speaker, Mentor, Coach, and Avid Volunteer. Over the past 30 years, I have held numerous executive advisor and senior positions while serving in the United States Navy and civilian sector. Through education and training, I helped strengthen the chain of command and businesses, providing sound decision support and creating open communication at all levels. I also helped formulate and implement policies concerning morale, welfare, job satisfaction, discipline, and training of Navy and civilian personnel.

My performance won me the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. I was named 2013, 2014, and 2017 Mentor of the Year, and recipient of the inaugural 2014 Chief John Dungan Jr. Oceanographer of the Navy Award. I was also awarded The Arnold Fletcher Award and inducted into the SALUTE National honors society for my academic achievements.

I volunteer actively for various projects and non-profits, earning the esteemed Bronze, Silver, and Gold President’s Volunteer Service Award.

What an absolutely amazing week!

First off, honoring my father-in-law (passed away two months ago) with an early morning coffee. Then I was off to my traditional Veterans Day Denny's breakfast. 

My Queen (Nancy Acosta) and I were blessed to attend the Classic Albums Live Performs Michael Jackson Thriller at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts courtesy of the Veterans Community Giveback with Camaraderie Foundation.

I was joined by Ms. Military Orlando, Diali E. Coll-Mercado, at the University of Central Florida Military and Veteran Student Success Inaugural Salute to Veterans Breakfast.

We closed out the week with supporting the Chad Barr Law Protecting Vets Foundation Inaugural Golf Scramble in support of Camaraderie Foundation.

There are many titles in our lives: The Father, The Mother, The Grandparents, The Siblings, The Cousins, The Aunts and Uncles, and there is The Friend.

It is said that the family is not chosen, but a friend is the family you choose for a lifetime. 

Friendship is very important; it transcends all differences, making moments in life sweeter and making hard moments softer.

I'm the oldest of 10 children (2 have passed away), and I see none of my siblings. My parents are no longer with us, and only two of my aunts check in, and only one of my Uncles. Even some of my children are following the same practice.

The friends I have in life are more like family to me than my natural family.
