As SWAT Commander, I supervised a 26 Operator SWAT Team including operators, snipers, and medics. I was responsible for tactical command during critical incidents such as hostage situations, barricaded subjects, and high-risk search and arrest warrants. Additionally, I led tactical training sessions for SWAT Operators and patrol officers in operational planning, policy creation and review, and budgeting. As a part of my role, I successfully ran a tactical team involved in the  2017 Ft. Lauderdale Airport shooting and provided active shooter training for over 1,500 law enforcement officers and civilians. Additionally, I was tasked with creating security plans for large events, coordinating and conducting security details for political figures, and conducting security and threat assessments for private organizations such as businesses, hospitals, schools, and houses of worship.

Another key responsibility was the planning and operating of large-scale events for the city, such as parades and holiday celebration events. This required working with stakeholders, administration, and the public to ensure the event was safe and ran efficiently. 

As the Supervisor of the Street Crime Unit, I developed extensive experience in long and short-term investigations relating to narcotics, prostitution, human trafficking, robbery, burglary, and fugitive apprehension. I oversaw daily operations, monitored officer performance, and implemented strategies to enhance the department’s efficiency, including budgets, inventory, and special reports.

Every groundbreaking idea starts the same way: with a moment that feels impossible… until it isn’t.

I was looking at an image of Lionel Messi standing in a roaring Barcelona stadium with me..  lights blazing, crowd alive, history in motion.

For a second, it felt like a real moment.

And then it hit me:
Artificial intelligence didn’t just recreate a picture.
It recreated a feeling.

In medicine, this is the crossroads we’re standing in right now.

AI isn’t just producing data.
It’s producing confidence sometimes accurate, sometimes not.
It’s generating clinical recommendations that look polished, persuasive, and intuitive.

But the future of healthcare won’t be shaped by AI that feels real.
It will be shaped by AI that earns trust  through validation, transparency, and true clinical partnership.

Because the next era of medicine isn’t about replacing human judgment.
It’s about elevating it.

And that future belongs to the leaders willing to ask the hard questions:

Are we embracing AI because it’s compelling… or because it’s correct?
Are we adopting what looks advanced… or what truly protects patients?
Are we building tools that imitate insight… or tools that improve it?

Innovation begins when we stop accepting what feels real
and start demanding what is real.

And yes this Messi moment?

Top 100 Most Influential Men of 2025

#Physicians aren’t resisting #AI.
They’re resisting being erased from the conversation.

Every week, I hear the same thing from colleagues.

We’re using AI.
We see the value.
But we weren’t asked how it should show up in our clinical lives.

The data makes that disconnect impossible to ignore:

• 67% of physicians already use AI daily
• 84% say AI makes them better at their jobs
• 81% are dissatisfied with how their organizations deploy it
• 71% report little or no influence over AI decisions

So the issue isn’t adoption.

It’s agency.

From the front lines, what clinicians actually want is simple:

• Less documentation — not new layers to review
• Fewer clicks — not more dashboards
• Time back for patients — not metrics for administrators

And what they’re pushing back against is just as clear:

• AI imposed top-down without clinical input
• Tools optimized for billing and payers, not care
• Responsibility and liability without protection or transparency

This is the part that often gets missed.

AI doesn’t fail in healthcare because doctors resist change.
It fails when doctors are treated as end-users instead of co-designers.

Technology should augment clinical judgment not sideline it.

If healthcare AI is going to earn trust, it won’t be because the algorithm is smarter.
It’ll be because clinicians were given a real seat at the table.

The Future of #Medicine Isn’t #AI It’s AI-Empowered Clinicians

Every time I’m on stage from #TEDx to global conferences the same question comes up:

“Will AI replace doctors?”

But at 3 AM in the ER, surrounded by uncertainty and life-or-death decisions, the answer is unmistakably clear:

AI can process data.
Only humans can deliver compassion, judgment, and hope.

But 12/12 taught me something deeper: alignment isn’t a moment, it’s a decision.
This year, I did something I never expected.
 I built a digital twin of myself made from sleep cycles, glucose trends, recovery curves, workouts, stress patterns, and long-term biomarkers.
Not to diagnose.
 Not to replace my judgment.
 But to reveal what my eyes could never catch alone.

My weight dropped from 230 lbs → 173 lbs.

The messages caught me off guard.
People from villages, megacities, and remote mountain towns all saying the same thing:

And I’ll be honest on a day like Thanksgiving, those words hit differently.

When I walked onto that #TEDx stage, I carried a lot with me:

They shape the way you see the world.

So when the messages started arriving from Brazil, India, South Africa, rural Alaska I realized something:

This isn’t just my mission.

What this year taught me surprised me.

#Health doesn’t improve when we try harder.
It improves when we listen better.

This year humbled me.

As a physician, I was trained to act.
To intervene.
To optimize fast.

But my body asked for something different.

Listening to #sleep before discipline.
Listening to #recovery before intensity.
Listening to #stress signals I used to override.
Listening to data without letting it replace intuition.

Building a digital twin of my own health didn’t give me answers.
It gave me awareness.

230 lbs → 173 lbs was the visible change.
The real shift was learning that progress comes from alignment, not force.

As the year winds down, this is what I’m carrying forward:

• Curiosity over control
• Precision over pressure
• Awareness before action
• Healthspan over hustle
