Responsible for the management of the delivery of a wide range of projects including demolition, refurbishment, relocation of operational departments, and mechanical and electrical works. The UK Atomic Energy Authority is an executive non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy. They conduct research in the field of fusion energy and related technologies, with the aim of positioning the UK as a leader in sustainable nuclear energy.

Building Refurbishment Manager

Previously T/A Faithful+Gould. Predominately public sector experience – specifically within education and housing in the Thames Valley region including:

Contract Administrator/ Assistant Project Manager on works up to £300K in value using the JCT suite of contracts. Tender review, appointment of contractor, progress monitoring, change control, agreement of valuations, and issue of certification including practical completion and end of defects.

Design and specification, and development of tender packages.

Applications for planning permission, listed building consent, and building control.

Coordinated and worked on large programmes of stock condition surveys across a variety of property use classes.

Fire risk assessment experience across a variety of property use classes.

Preparation of higher education buildings for continued operation in the COVID-19 global pandemic. 

Involvement with the business development strategy at a departmental, office, regional, and national level. Recognition as a future leader of the business. 

Involvement with nurturing and encouraging new talent into the industry through work experience placements, careers talks at Oxford Brookes University and University of Reading, and attendance at careers events. Participation in fundraising and corporate social responsibility events.

Following completion of my degree I enrolled in a residential lettings internship with Countrywide PLC for the summer of 2014 - following which I was offered full time employment with Taylors Lettings Oxford (one of their several high street agency brands). My role was heavily focused around the letting and management of a large portfolio of student HMO properties. I worked in this role until May 2016 when I applied for a transfer to fill a vacancy at Finders Keepers Oxford City Centre office who had recently been acquired by Countrywide. In this role I was responsible for marketing and securing tenants for prime properties ranging from luxury high end city centre apartments to large detached properties on the outskirts of the city.

As a dedicated Senior Building Surveyor with extensive experience in property and construction services, I am passionate about delivering innovative solutions that meet the diverse needs of both public and private sector clients. Currently at Thames Valley Surveying Limited, I leverage my strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to excellence to provide bespoke property advice and maintain long-term client relationships.

My journey in building surveying began at AtkinsRéalis, where I undertook building condition surveys and managed refurbishment and maintenance projects within the public sector and financial services. My role as Building Refurbishment Manager at the UK Atomic Energy Authority provided me with valuable first hand experience of working within a client side public sector organisation contributing to the UK's leadership in sustainable nuclear energy.

I am passionate about nurturing the next generation of surveyors. I actively participate in mentorship programs, university career talks, and community initiatives, advocating for diversity and inclusion within our field.
