In my free time, I listen to too many podcasts , read sci-fi and horror books (not only about AI), jog far and Jiu Jitsuing whenever I can

My six-year-old son Yam spends his days drawing sea creatures, really living up to his name (which means "Sea" in Hebrew). His sketches are at the bottom (the blond boy with the net is a self-portrait), with my own AI-generated animation above. 
He’ll sit for hours, poring over books and copying or recalling the most unusual, poisonous, or cute fish, endlessly . He’s such a sensitive and talented kid.
But we’re living through a tectonic shift: what’s the point of spending days learning to draw a koi fish’s shape and colors when you can just type “drawing of a koi fish” into an AI image model and get something near-perfect?!
 I don’t really have an answer, I even struggle to put it into words. But I do believe the creative journey matters more than the finished product, if you’ll forgive me a bit of dime-store philosophy.
I’ve switched to designing solely with AI over the last three years, spending 80% of my day making complex visuals at work, and I believe it’s an amazing technology once you learn the ropes. Still, I want my son to take as much time as possible developing his own style before he meets this tech. 

Honestly, my kid behaves a bit like a tiny AI model himself: training with outside data, trying over and over, always improving, but the main difference lies in his inner drive and the personal bond he has with these images. That’s something a machine will never have.
I admit I can’t help myself and sometimes animate his drawings. And if you want to do it too, I can share my workflow in Weavy in the comments; basically, I combine elements with Nano-Banana, animate with Seedance Pro, and the Hebrew lyrics were written by ChatGPT 5 after I showed it Yam’s drawings (the music was composed in Suno, of course).

Boy, I’m already so corrupted by all this tech, while he’s still pure like the sea.
