As a blindness skills specialist, I provide services that are available at no cost to assist area Missouri school districts in providing quality services to students with visual impairments, including those with multiple disabilities. I am dually certified in education of students with visual impairments and orientation and mobility. Services available include professional development opportunities for parents, teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators and other interested parties.  In addition, the BSS can assist districts in locating sources for direct instructional services for their students with VI; provide assessments in orientation and mobility, learning media assessment, functional vision, and braille skills; assist in implementation of the expanded core curriculum, and serve as consultant to IEP teams.

I am one of four blindness skills specialists in the state.  My region covers the Kansas City Metro region, down to Warrensburg, and over to Columbia.  If your school district is within that area and you have program needs for your students with visual impairments, I would love to hear from you.

My greatest goals are to serve God with my whole heart, to love my wife as Christ loved the church, and to be an example for our eleven children and 30 grandchildren.

I am a certified teacher of students with visual impairments and a certified orientation and mobility specialist. I taught for 18 years. I am now in my 19th year as one of four state outreach consultants in Missouri. We assist schools that have students with visual impairments in developing their programs.
