AppsFlyer invited me to the Fall Release last week, which meant:
#1 - I got to see Tobacco Dock in the daylight for the first time in my life
#2 - I ended up in a room with 150 app marketing leaders 
#3 - I’ve got a sweet new beanie, bumbag, and Gameboy

Content-wise:
Batch create around these themes but keep it authentic. Your audience can smell manufactured motivation from miles away.

PRO TIP:
Start planning your Valentine's Day campaigns NOW so you're not ending up with a rubbish AI generated campaign, same as your other 50 competitors the week before.

January's mint because people actually want to engage with helpful content. 

Don't waste it on generic motivational quotes when you could be solving real problems and building PROPER audience connections.
Plus, it's just dead nice to be nice.

ok so I have a very complicated relationship with LinkedIn.

I've been on here for half a decade, built my career because of this app, literally taught thousands of peers how to build their own brands on here and you know what? I still find it hard.

not the writing bit, I quite like that.  it's the what the hell do I even post about bit that gets me. 

content burnout is real and I see it constantly in the insiders clu: people start strong, post for a few weeks, then just stop. 

because figuring out what to post when you're stuck in your own head is genuinely difficult.

here's what I always come back to: you need to work backwards.

goal → who needs to see this → what would help them → how do I show up

→ my goal right now: position myself as the go-to for practical social media
→ who needs to see this: social media managers, marketing coordinators, small business owners doing their own marketing - people who are drowning in conflicting advice and just want something that actually works
→ what would help them: honest takes on what's working right now. shortcuts I've learned the hard way, the stuff that sounds too simple to share but is actually what people need to hear
→ how do I want to show up? lowercase (always), conversational, zero corporate speak

→ so to do that thing for those people I need to share: real examples from running a 700k+ community, behind-the-scenes of what's actually working, calling out the tactics that sound good but don't work, giving away the strategies others normally save for paid services

start at the end, work backwards.

the internet is drowning in slop - content is getting faster, cheaper, and emptier.

Pinterest Predicts 2026 reported that trends are now growing 4.4x faster and dropping off 14x faster than before. 

we're in a hyper-accelerated trend cycle that's making everything feel disposable.

and you can feel it, can't you? there's a reason we're spending less time scrolling and more time on Substack, seeking out book recommendations, sliding into DMs instead of consuming feeds. 

I don't care about reach, I care about reputation.

I'm not trying to rack up impressions - I'm trying to MATTER.

reach is passive. 
reputation is active. 

reach is someone scrolling past your post. 
reputation is someone thinking of you three days later when they need advice. 

reach is being seen. 
reputation is being sought out.

don't get it twisted, both matter - but the priority is shared.

I want to be the person someone thinks of when they're stuck, not the person they forgot they followed.

that takes interest, not impressions.

you can't build interest by posting three times a day about whatever's trending. 

you build it by saying something worth remembering - by having a point of view, by being someone, not just another account.

so here's my plan: fewer posts, more substance. less noise, more signal.

because when everything is content, nothing is. 

do you actually believe more content = more growth? or are you just scared to post less?

as a long-time lurker, this is so exciting - and what better way to make my debut than with the brilliant Sprout Social, Inc. team (CC Matilda and Abigail who are just fantastic!)

back in October, a musician ran a random TikTok experiment, and "group 7" accidentally became a cultural moment. 

millions of people started claiming their spot in this made-up club, commenting it on completely unrelated videos like some kind of secret handshake - even celebrities joined in.

not because anyone cared about the song, but because people are desperate to belong to something, even if that something is a made-up club on the internet that means absolutely nothing.

the problem is our entire industry runs on the idea that doing more gets you more. more posts, more platforms, more content, more everything.

people aren't asking for more content - they're asking to feel like they're part of something. 

they want smaller spaces, human interaction, and moments that feel real.

so i'm making the case for smaller circles in 2026, why brands need to stop broadcasting and why they need to start building spaces where people actually feel like they belong instead.

remember when we thought creators had to dance in front of ring lights and share their morning routines? well, plot twist: the intellectual influencer era just entered the chat 👀 

and it's about to flip everything we know about "content creation" on its head.

→ you can start right now with what you already know: the problems you've solved and systems you've built in your career are exactly what other people are trying to figure out.

→ your expertise opens doors beyond content: speaking opportunities, consulting work, and partnerships follow when you're known for what you know.

→ you can build revenue that doesn't require you to show up every single day: courses let you answer the questions people actually need help with at scale.

because sharing your expertise on social is great, but packaging it into something people can actually implement is where *real* impact happens.
