🚀 A few days ago, I wrote a post asking a simple question:
Why can't events find women speaking about AI and tech?

Because honestly, I’m tired of hearing the same excuse from conferences, panels, and companies: "We couldn’t find women speakers."

The response was incredible and it went viral, and my comment/ inbox quickly filled with brilliant women working across AI, data, and emerging tech.

So we started collecting speakers through a simple form.
But something quickly became clear:
A spreadsheet isn’t enough.

Event organisers need a real, searchable directory.
So I decided to build one.

Right now I’m building a Women in AI & Tech Speakers Directory using Lovable and I’m building it in public (soo scary!) for the 1st time. 

You’ll see the progress, the experiments, the mistakes, and the iterations as we go because building things in public makes them better.

Because the goal is simple:
Make it impossible to say “we couldn’t find women speakers.”

In the face of systemic inequality, if you’re more offended by the description of the boot than the pressure of the boot, you might be part of the reason it isn't moving.

And then there are those who claim that because their legs get tired from standing, they are just as much a victim as the person being stepped on. 

One is a choice; the other is a sentence. 

True allyship isn't about defending your own reputation; it's about helping lift the weight. 

If your first instinct when hearing about a woman’s struggle is to bring up your own unrelated "suffering," you aren't helping, you're just adding more weight to the neck. 

Transcript: 

So, the patriarchy is like a man having his boot on a woman's neck.

Feminism is women asking that the boot be removed.

Men's rights activists think that having to take their boot off a woman's neck is some sort of reverse oppression.

Conservatives figure that there was never a problem with the boot being on the neck until the woman started complaining about it, and if everybody would just shut the fuck up, things would be fine.

Good guys take any complaint about the boot as a personal attack because not all men wear boots.

Male allies try to discuss the issue in a way without aliating the boot.

Women with internalized misogyny don't know why these other women are complaining about the boot on their neck.

They love having the boot on their neck and there's something wrong with the women who complain.

Meanwhile, the boot stays on the fuc*ing neck.
