And we're completely missing what just happened.

We made content WORTHLESS.

When everyone has infinite content, nobody's content matters. That's just basic economics.

Scarcity creates value. And guess what just became the scarcest thing on the internet?

REAL HUMAN CONNECTION.

The robots automated the busy work so we could finally focus on what actually builds businesses: relationships.

But everyone's still playing the content game they already lost.

I can't wait to watch this play out over the next 2 years. It's going to be BRUTAL and BEAUTIFUL at the same time.

I just watched a small business owner get replaced by ChatGPT in 15 minutes.

And he has NO IDEA it happened.

Here’s what went down…

Our home cinema stopped working last Sun. My wife was hosting friends a few nights later to watch a musical.

She’s a musical geek. The pressure was ON.

I emailed the guy who installed the whole system a few years back. Seemed like the obvious move, right?

Adam’s response:

“A new processor would be £250 (Exc VAT) and we would need to attend site to replace/program etc. Labour costs are £175 exc VAT which includes the first hour onsite with every hour being charged at £75 (exc VAT).

Please let me know your thoughts?”

My thoughts?

“Sorry, that’s far too expensive. I’ll figure it out.”

Opened ChatGPT. Described the problem. Followed the steps.

15 MINUTES LATER the cinema was working.

Zero cost. Zero hassle. Zero waiting.

Adam just got ABSOLUTELY SMOKED by a chatbot.

Not because ChatGPT is better at fixing home cinemas.

But because he treated me like a transaction instead of a customer with an urgent problem.

No troubleshooting offer. No “I understand the urgency.”

Just a quote that felt like he was hoping I’d say no.

And here’s what’s scary…

THIS IS HAPPENING EVERYWHERE RIGHT NOW.

AI just made mediocre customer service a death sentence.

The second you treat someone like a ticket number, they open ChatGPT.

And you’re done.

Adam lost a customer in 15 minutes. He lost every referral I would’ve sent him. 

All because he forgot to put himself in my shoes first.

Don’t be Adam.

I’m seeing the same pattern play out everywhere.

People are leaving public social feeds and hiding in private Slacks. Discord servers. WhatsApp groups.

Why?

Because the open internet is about to become COMPLETELY untrustworthy.

When it costs almost $0 to deploy an AI agent that acts exactly like a human…your mentions are cooked. Your DMs are cooked. Comments? Just AI slop.

We’re already seeing it. 

Fake engagement. Bot replies. Accounts that seem real until you look closer.

And it’s only going to get worse.

We can’t fight this with better bot detection. We have to build spaces where you KNOW there’s a real human on the other end.

Proof of heartbeat. That’s what matters now.

This is why I’m bullish on small, trusted communities. Places where you can actually see someone’s face. Hear their voice. Know they’re real.

The future of social isn’t more followers or bigger reach.

It’s smaller rooms. With real people. Who you actually trust.

Just got a DM that was 100% written by ChatGPT

Could tell from the first line. “I hope this message finds you well”

Here’s the thing: half the internet is now bots talking to bots. AI-generated comments on AI-generated posts. 

SLOP ON SLOP

Everyone’s optimising for engagement metrics that… don’t actually mean anything.

STOP TEARING DOWN PEOPLE WHO ARE WINNING.

Someone posts about hitting $50k MRR and within MINUTES the comments fill up with:

"Must be nice to have rich parents."
"Easy when you already have an audience."

WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE??

When someone wins, I want to DISSECT their brain. 

I want to know EVERYTHING.

What did you do? 
How did you do it? 
What failed first? 
What worked? 

Because THAT'S how you grow. You study winners. You learn from them. 

But instead we've got this DISEASE. 

We need to immediately cut people down. Make them smaller. Remind them they're not special.

It's called tall poppy syndrome and it's pathetic.

The people spending energy tearing others down will NEVER build anything themselves. NEVER!

Because while they're typing snarky comments, the winners are shipping. Learning. Iterating. Growing.

Someone else's success is not a threat to yours. 

There is NO CAP on winning. 

When I see someone crushing it, I get EXCITED. 

Now I have someone to learn from. Someone who proved it's possible.

This is exactly why I'm running an 8-week challenge where we study what's working instead of tearing each other down.

Writing this down so I stop making the same mistake:

I built a social media management platform in 2008. Back then, NOBODY was hiring "Social Media Managers."

Fast forward 13 years...

By 2021 when I sold Sendible, the role was a necessity.

They were managing brand crises in real time. Building attribution models. Defending budgets to execs who thought social was "free."

And now?

The job just got infinitely harder AND easier at the same time.

AI has made content infinite. Which means content is WORTHLESS.

The actual job now isn't managing posts.

It's creating HUMAN CONNECTION in a world drowning in bots.

So what do we call someone whose entire job is proving they're not AI?

I just read Josh Braun’s post about Kit charging him $1,000 extra to export HIS OWN NEWSLETTERS.

The content HE wrote.

And it made me physically angry.

Not because I use Kit. I don’t.

But because this is EXACTLY the kind of evil brand behavior that makes me lose my mind.

Here’s the thing…

At Sendible, we had customers leave all the time. 13 years running that company. Thousands came and went.

And you know what we did EVERY SINGLE TIME someone wanted to export their data or leave?

We made it STUPID EASY.

No paywalls. No “upgrade to get your own stuff back” nonsense. No friction.

Why?

Because I’m not in the business of taking people hostage.

So I write back. Full response. Ready to have a real conversation.

Then I see another founder post a screenshot of THE EXACT SAME MESSAGE.

Just swap out the name and intro.

I felt like such an idiot.

What gets me is how GOOD it was at faking genuine interest. Like they actually cared.

But they didn’t. They just had a better prompt.

We’re building tools that make it SO EASY to fake caring that we’ve forgotten what ACTUALLY caring looks like!!

The robots can now do “personalization” better than humans.

So what’s the move?
