As I build this creator business, I’m treating monetization like an experiment.

I’ve already seen signs that it's possible:

But instead of jumping at everything, here's how I'm approaching monetization:

It's cool to have a robust tech stack, 
but what good is it if you're not 
👏 consistently 👏  making 👏 content 👏?


I told myself that the challenge is seeing if
I can grow my audience and build systems with free tools.
A lot of people have done it!

When it makes sense—
as my needs grow or as I make more consistent income
—will I invest in higher tiers or hire.

Right now, I'm only using: 
- My iPhone 14 to shoot
- CapCut and TikTok's built-in editor to edit
- Kit for my email list
- Buffer for scheduling social media

As I go on this creator journey, I realized something:

𝗠𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗻.

When I first sent out my welcome email
to the people who signed up for my email newsletter,
I received tons of replies.

➢ DMs about their lives
➢ Messages about worries they don’t usually say out loud.

The personal nature of these messages surprised me,
but it also reminded me of something my high school bestie told me.

I had complimented her on her writing,
but she smiled and said she liked my writing more:

"Farrah, you're so relatable."

At the time, I remember thinking:
"Pfft, who wants to be relatable —
When you can construct beautiful prose?"

Now, years later, I’m realizing it's a gift.
How people tell me they feel understood.
- I put words to what they couldn’t say yet
- I made them feel a little less alone

Some subscribers even asked if I was on other platforms,
so they can follow me there. 🥹

These incidents reminded me that sharing your message
is about meeting people where they already are.

And maybe this season isn't about
- growing the fastest
- being the loudest
- having the most followers

But showing up so someone feels seen.

If that’s the kind of creator I get to be,
I’m more than okay with that.

I’ve always wanted to be a creator.

Not in the “viral” sense,
but building something that actually belongs to you.

When the new year rolled in,
For once, I didn’t overthink it.

I didn’t wait for the perfect system.
I just… started.

In the past few days, I've:
✅ Set up a Kit account 
(and fumbled through the tech)

✅ Posted on Threads
(one post unexpectedly crossed 1,000+ likes and brought in 200+ followers)

✅ Started an email list that now has 130+ people
(with 70+ still unconfirmed because, again, tech hiccups)

𝗔 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗮𝗴𝗼, 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁.

What’s wild is that when I revisited my 2026 goals, 
My target for January was to reach 100–300 subscribers.

It’s only the first week.

For the longest time, I thought I was slow.

I knew how content, email, social, and repurposing worked — 
I’d studied all of it, taken the courses, written about it endlessly.

But I was always waiting for the best time to start.

Now I realized that all that learning 
was just waiting for action to catch up.

And as soon as I started, everything clicked.

(I’m also seeing the thing I’ve been telling others for years in real time: 
𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 — 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗺𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗶𝘁. 😂 )

For now, I’m building slowly:
➡️ TikTok is established
➡️ Threads and my email list are just beginning
🔜 Long-form video and better editing are next

Once the list starts earning, I plan on investing in:
🔜 Paid tools
🔜 Replicable content standards
🔜 Eventually bringing help in

I used to think I had to have everything to start,
But now I'm realizing all I really had to do was begin.

The biggest mistake I made last year ⤵️ 
...was quitting too early.

Last year, I tried to grow a LinkedIn ghostwriting business.

✅ I had the skills.
✅ I understood the market.
✅ I knew there was demand.

But when progress felt slow, I got discouraged and stepped away.
Now, when I look around, I see how real the demand actually is.

LinkedIn ghostwriters are being hired everywhere:
- Upwork
- OnlineJobs, and 
- Directly by companies

If I had stayed just a little longer, things probably would’ve worked out.

I still don’t know if I was early, 
or if I just didn’t give it enough time.

What I do know is that I’m choosing a different approach now.
I’m playing the long game.

I’m letting things take time.
And I’m building something I genuinely enjoy.

I didn’t stick with LinkedIn ghostwriting because
maybe deep down, I didn’t love the process.

But with what I’m building now, I do.
And that part matters a lot more than I realized.

If you’re posting online for fun or memories, ignore this.

Hot take: 
People skip your posts because they’re about you, and not them.

If you’re trying to build an audience,
You have to GIVE before you ask for attention.

Whether that'd be education or entertainment, inspiration or insight,
you gotta give your audience a reason to stick around.

Posting “what I did today” without a story or takeaway is noise.
(To strangers, at least)

While some creators grow because of aesthetics or videography, that’s rare.

So if you want to start growing as a creator,
start making it worth your audience's time.

• Spearheaded the ongoing development and implementation of a comprehensive Behavior-based Safety (BBS) program for the JGSOC manufacturing complex as part of the Working Committee
• Directed the system design and program development of a continuous awareness and risk evaluation system for behavior-based safety incidents reporting  
• Coached a multi-discipline team in delivering value-adding solutions worth Php 67 million savings to address performance issues in steam letdown stations using the Agile framework
• Conducted high-level technical end economic evaluations on alternative polymerization catalysts to explore profit-generating scenarios in the case of raw material limitation at the plant which necessitated presenting the results of my evaluations and recommendations to top management 
• Led the offline model development and online model implementation as Project Engineer to digitally transform our process monitoring tools for distributor plate fouling (process operability concern) and film breaks (product quality concern) via Aspen Technology’s ProMV, a multi-variate analysis software which allowed our operations team to increase reaction uptime and maximize profitability 
• Assessed all polyethylene campaigns in our UNIPOL PE plant to review bi-annually the raw materials consumption for that period and compare it with the previously established standards to ensure inventories for raw materials are in accordance with the projected product volumes and all excessive use of raw materials are properly investigated and addressed

Process Engineer

• Spearheaded the development, implementation, and commissioning of a new seabulk loading line for Polymer pellets to address the export market demand resulting in USD 16,970 savings and additional revenue of USD 151,078 since its successful commissioning in November 2021 
• Designed and implemented key solutions (e.g. provision of an improvised humidifier, installation of magnetic separators, provision of strainers and flushing lines) for removing streamers and pellet abnormalities along conveying lines 
• Demonstrated strong management skills in safe and effective completion of catalyst development projects to facilitate the safe and successful product and process development of new polymer bimodal pipes and films 
• Engaged as the Process Lead for Prodigy Bimodal Catalyst Trials with UNIPOL Technology Licensors which resulted to achievement of previously agreed plant trial objectives and no loss time incidents reported 
• Assessed all purification vessels in the plant to ensure impurity removal is at its optimum and prevent its breakthrough to the reaction systems, this also involved calculating the saturation of the fixed purification beds and its proper scheduling for regeneration 
• Significantly contributed to Overall Plant Safety especially during commissioning of expansion projects by conducting and leading Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs), HAZOP and JHA Studies, and Safety System Audits

Associate Process Engineer

• Improved UNIPOL Polyethylene reactor operations by generating operating limits to prevent rapid fouling at distributor plate using analysis tools in Microsoft Excel 
• Improved Process Operability and Product Quality by developing and implementing engineering projects including but not limited to piping and instrumentation modifications, equipment procurement and upgrade, and changes in the DCS of the UNIPOL PE Plant
• Engaged as Project Lead for critical projects (e.g. cycle gas line modifications and reactor distributor plate modifications) to successfully convert one of our polyethylene lines as a swing-reactor able to process both slurry and dry Univation catalysts 
• Conducted incident investigations employing root cause analysis techniques and TapRoot software to pinpoint the root cause of incidents and leading the incident resolution team in generating effective recommendations to prevent recurrence of incidents 
• Engaged as an Internal Auditor for Integrated Management Systems (ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001) and successfully supported the plant in sustaining its IMS Certifications through careful identification of potential non-compliances and generating effective recommendations during internal audits attended 
• Involved as Change Management Controller for request for engineering works and project modification requests to guarantee a safe and effective management of change in the polymer plant for projects that are not replacement in kind. 
• Developed an automated and paperless framework to streamline and shorten processing times for requests for engineering work, and project modification requests complex-wide using Intellipro solutions
• Implemented modifications on controlled documents like Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and Process Design Packages (PDPs) using AutoCAD and Adobe Acrobat

I mainly handled data gathering for UNIPOL PE Reactor performance and catalyst trials. I provided support during critical catalyst trials in both PE Plants through catalyst model simulations, process monitoring, and catalyst charging tracking. I also led minor incident investigations and improvement projects for UNIPOL OSBL (Packaging and Utilities). As P&ID Controller of Polymer group, I drew basic CAD drawings to update affected diagrams for implemented projects. I conducted basic Polymer process overviews to customers and visitors at JGSPC. I also scribed for several HAZOP Studies using PHA Works.

My responsibilities include providing assistance in installation, upgrading and provided customer service for billing and account management concerns. I also have a background in sales since part of my role is to provide product options for customers and process their sale orders.

I worked as an intern under the Flour Quality Assurance department of the Pilmico Iligan Plant for 240 working hours. I was trained to perform laboratory tests for incoming and outgoing materials to and from the flour mill. I was also exposed to the tasks performed by a QA personnel (i.e. baking tests, audits, preparing QA forms). The laboratory tests I perform include - protein analysis, ash analysis, gluten content determination, moisture determination, pH determination, determination of falling number, Farinograph test, extensograph test, and starch analysis.

As an intern under the Human Resources team, I was trained to work well with different mentors from the different teams under the HR (i.e. Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, and Future Talents). Under my mentor in talent acquisition, I was given a chance to perform paper screenings, conduct telephone interviews and conduct initial preliminary interviews with talent candidates. Under the Talent Development team, my mentor exposed me to preparing for a managerial training. I was tasked to prepare the training materials and assist during the training.
