The Best Life Is Yet to Be

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to believe our best moments are behind us
that our prime has passed, that the magic was “back then.”

But what if that’s not true?

What if the best life isn’t the one we’ve already lived… but the one we’re still becoming?

Every season brings a new layer of awareness, a deeper sense of who we are, and a clearer picture of what truly matters.

The setbacks that once broke us now shape our wisdom.

The pauses that once frustrated us now teach us presence.

The losses that once crushed us now open space for something more real.

The best life is yet to be not because it’s free of pain or struggle,
but because we’re learning to meet both with more grace, courage, and authenticity.

Fuel for the Body. Focus for the Mind.


Every morning, I prepare my meals for the day.
It’s not just about eating healthy,
it’s about being intentional.

Food prep reminds me that what I put into my body affects what comes out of my mind.

When I eat clean, I think clearer.
When I plan ahead, I show up better.

It’s the same with mental preparation.

If we don’t plan what we feed our mind (thoughts, energy, focus),  the day ends up feeding us instead.

Leadership starts long before the first meeting.

It begins in those quiet, intentional moments when we choose our fuel — physical, mental, and emotional.

So today, as I pack my meals, I’m also packing my mindset:
→ Gratitude over stress.
→ Clarity over chaos.
→ Intention over impulse.

Healthy body. Healthy mind. Strong leadership.

🧭 Direction Is More Important Than Speed


I was working out the other day, pushing hard, sweating, counting reps.

Halfway through, I caught myself thinking: Am I doing this right, or just doing it fast?

That’s when it hit me: direction is more important than speed.

Speed can make us feel productive.
But without direction, we’re just burning energy without progress.

In leadership and life, it’s easy to get caught up in motion (meetings, targets, deadlines) and forget to ask, 

Am I moving toward what truly matters?

Sometimes the real strength lies in slowing down to realign, to train with intention, lead with purpose, and live with clarity.

Because when your direction is right, every rep, every step, every decision counts.

I enrolled myself into a 6-month program just before the year ended last year with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) 

I regretted it halfway through. 

Weekday evenings spent listening to lectures, going into our teams for discussion and hands-on exercises, examinations after every module. 

Weekend mornings are a similar routine. It was tiring.

For those that have read so far, SURPRISE! Was just joking. 

The journey was actually transformative and worth the time. 😃 

Some of the activities that left a mark on me were:
👉 Climbing Everest: a simulation where we form teams, and go on a mission to reach base camp.
👉 AI Tutor: had the chance to pilot a new way of learning, through an AI tutor. 
👉 Learning journey: its never just lectures, there are many other ways of learning

Going through this course puts me in the shoes of the employees, whose companies I have been selling, on capability building. 

I can understand the sacrifice, the rush to leave office to make it for evening classes, and having to manage my kids while having lessons. 

Was it easy? NO. 

But was it worth it? YES!

I work with banks across APAC to design instructor-led programs that help their teams adapt — from technical mastery to human-centered client engagement.

“Train the employees already, what if they leave?”

As Business Development at Intuition , I get asked this a lot during my conversations with L&D folks. 

And my answer is always the same:
“If you don’t train them, and they stay — how?”

The logic is simple.

If the company keeps advancing but the people don’t, because they’re not trained or supported… how long before the gap starts to show?

I will use my home situation as an example of why employers should train their employees even if they will leave one day. 

Four years ago, our helper joined us. She didn’t know how to use most of the things in the house — the washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, even how we liked our food cooked.

My wife, my family, and I spent time training her — step by step.

We taught her our routines, our SOPs, how to handle the kids, what our preferences were.

Slowly, she got better.

More confident. More capable.

Fast forward four years — she became a big part of our family. The kids adore her. We could finally breathe a bit, go out, and enjoy dinners again knowing the house was in good hands.

This week, she’s heading back to Indonesia to reunite with her daughter — after 4 long years apart.

We brought her out for a farewell dinner to thank her for everything she’s done for us.

And you know what?

Yes, she’s leaving.

But she’s leaving better than when she first came.

And that’s the point.

If someone grows under your care — whether it’s an employee or a helper — that’s never a loss. That’s impact.

I lost a pair of shoes after a night out networking. 

I realised this only the next day when I was going out to work. 

And the sad thing this brand is no longer in business so I cannot make another pair like I did 10 years ago for my wedding. 🥲

Since joining Intuition, I attended a few networking events. 

To meet more people, and grow the network. 

More importantly to share the work we have been doing over the last 40 years to leading financial institutions globally. 

I was sharing about some risk management programs we are doing for some of our clients during one such event with a group of professionals working in banks. 

All was well, till… 

I woke up the next day as usual, about to put on my shoes for work when i realised I got 2 cuts on each of it.

Shoes laces still nicely tied up.

Just a simple act of skipping untying my shoes laces, resulted in a permanent damage to my shoes. 

Imagine if this happened to compliance in the banking and finance sector. 

What sort of risk would not following proper procedures bring along? 

Other than monetary fines, there would be the reputational risks too.

A BBQ, a few bottles of wine over the weekend. 

Last Saturday night with friends and our families. 

An old bottle of wine. With the cork destroyed, mixed in with one of our beloved wine.

Instead of throwing the wine away, we thought of how to filter the wine out.

Luck was with us that there were still coffee filters left. 

And that was how creativity, adaptability, enabled us to enjoy our wine.

Similar to sales (and life), we’re bound to face unexpected challenges.

From clients, co-workers, friends, even family members respectively. 

Important thing it isn’t having the perfect tools or answers every time, but how ready we are to adapt, improvise, and find a way forward.

Woke up this morning and decided to go for a jog — my first one in almost a month.

While putting on my shoes, I told myself, “Let’s just do 3km today. Don’t push too hard.”

But when I hit that 3km mark, something in me said, “Still have some energy, lets do more.”

So I kept going. One more round.

By the time I stopped, I had gone further than I set out to do.

Was still panting heavily while cooling down, but the satisfaction? Totally worth it.

Growth isn’t comfortable. It isn’t easy.

But the results. That quiet sense of accomplishment, reminds you why it’s worth the effort.

Sometimes, the only thing standing between where we are and where we could be… is ourselves.

A robo vacuum is such a great equipment to have in the house.

It can replace manual vacuuming of the floor, some even has mopping capability. 

Set it to start whenever you leave home, and you come back to a clean floor. 

With pets, they can do a decent job too of maintaining a low amount of pet fur on the floor. 

And that was what I was conversing with my friend while having our TGIF drinks. 

He shared an incident of his dog and the robo vacuum in the house. 

All was good, fur vacuumed regularly, even urine as these robo are able to clean up the mess. 

But when the dog poops, the robo vacuum still does its great job (poop included), and continue its rounds. 

Just that this time, it drags the poop around, spreading it over the house.

So sometimes, these "smart" devices in the house may give us more headache. 

Smart devices or technology such as automation or AI can never replace human skills, such as critical thinking. 

Think of this: if you see dog poop lying around in the house while vacuuming, would you still go ahead to vacuum that area?

PS. Gossiping about this handsome boy, while he was standing guard next to the bottles 😊

Creativity can happen in the most unexpected way. 

Have been reminding my wife not to buy too many toys for the kids, for a few reasons.

While I am pretty chill with their academics, I am very insistent on their screen-time. 

No ipads on weekdays, unless there is homework that needs it. 

My kids' reply in the first few years?

"Daddy, why other children can watch ipad but we cannot?"

I did have a hard time trying to “fight off” the requests, which often resulted in sad or crying children. 

The video below can explain one of the reasons, why I prefer them not to spend too much time on their ipads. 

While working one weekend, with the kids playing, I did not believe what I saw happen to my gloves.

And this was one of the reason why I prefer them to have a play-based childhood, and not a screen-based one.  

If there is no restriction on creativity, ideas can flow. And this can happen in our workplace too. 

As leaders, how open are you to ideas? Do you embrace diversity? 

Like what my kids have shown, we can play a game of bowling, anywhere, with anything we can get our hands on. 

And in this case, it was a pair of gloves, and a rubber ball. 

Its amazing to see the ideas that our brain can come up with.
